Mixed feelings||We stayed at Milele Beach Resort in February as part of our honeymoon and have mixed feelings - we've tried to review this as fairly as possible based on our experience (and appreciate our experience is biased based on our room's shortcomings) ||||The positives:||Breakfast is great you have freshly cooked omlette, fresh fruit, and the usual buffet of bread, cheese, ham etc. Fresh coffee and juice is brought to your table which is a bonus! ||It is in a relatively quiet part of the coast so don't get too much noise from other resorts. There is the occasional moped rider but it is largely quiet. ||Very welcoming on arrival - Noah greets you which is nice and you get given a fruit juice along with usually information. ||Has free WiFi which was fairly reliable. ||Rooms get cleaned once a day in the morning and then in the evening your mosiquto nets get put down and the room sprayed with repellent. You also get water in your room twice a day. ||The rooms have both air conditioning and a fan (which is needed!) and you have a fridge, safe and shampoo and conditioner. ||there is always a spare sun lounger and you get beach towels provided. ||you can hire for 5 dollars a day a bike (cheaper than the nearby Dongwe sports which charge 15 dollars)||the pool is an infinity pool and as the resort is so small there is always space in it to relax and look out to the sea (the hotel is right on the beach) ||most of the staff are friendly and welcoming - in particular the lady who cleans your room. ||||The negatives:||Our bathroom door was broken (it wouldn't shut) and despite mentioning it at the start of the week it still hadn't been fixed.||one of our room's windows and shutters didn't close/lock properly so being on the ground floor a serious security risk as could be easily opened from outside and the room entered without the key. It took 1 day to be fixed but it clearly wasn't a new problem - a hotel should check to make sure windows close every so often? ||Our shower head broke though it was fixed a day later||if you are a bed and breakfast guest rather than all inclusive you get a bit of judgement from the staff for not wanting to eat at the hotel's restaurant for lunch and dinner. We had a bad experience on our first day when we had margarita pizzas and they were ridiculously salty and didn't have mozzarella cheese on as advertised (weird as the owner is Italian). After that we were weary of the food and tried to eat elsewhere (difficult to do as most things are in Paje which is 10km away). ||the food for lunch and dinner is expensive! Expect to easily pay 15-30 dollars per person for lunch per person and more than that per person for dinner. I guess it's all location location location as these are very high compared to Stonetown or even nearby Paje. ||don't go with their airport transfer or tours. You can get them way cheaper elsewhere (we spoke to the guy from Dongwe sports and got our tours for half the price and taxi for 30 dollars compared to the hotel's 55). Other guests seemed to do the same (it was another guest who mentioned it to us) ||we were in room 2 and would recommend to avoid it if you are a light sleeper - it is right next to the kitchens so you get woken up by staff coming in for breakfast and then kept up by staff finishing dinner service. Ear plugs are not provided but we luckily brought our own. Other than that the room was great. ||if you are trying to avoid people smoking (like me for a health condition) you may struggle with this resort - there is no designated smoking area so guests seem to smoke anywhere outside which, as a small resort, carries everywhere and is difficult to be avoided. But this could be a Zanzibar thing? ||||Overall we have mixed feeling about Milele Beach. It was a truly beautiful resort but the door not being fixed combined with the expensive food with prevelance of second-hand smoke mean that, in hindsight, we probably would have been happier somewhere else. Maybe if you book a different room, go all-inclusive and don't mind smoke you would...
Read moreWe had the most incredible time during our honeymoon, an experience that exceeded all our expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Isabella and her son Nicolò, who were always available for anything we needed, whether it was organizing excursions, booking a taxi, or simply offering advice to help us enjoy the island to the fullest.
It was our first time in Zanzibar and everything felt magical. The attention to detail was extraordinary: from the high-quality products provided, like creams and shampoos, to the way we were constantly looked after with kindness and care. You can truly feel how much thought and heart goes into every aspect of the experience. Isabella and Nicolò were always present, thoughtful, and ready to help with anything, creating a sense of comfort that stayed with us every day.
A special mention goes to Omar, our guide during the excursions, who was incredibly knowledgeable and kind. His explanations were clear, interesting, and filled with local insight, which helped us connect even more deeply with the beauty and culture of Zanzibar.
The staff, all coordinated with dedication by Isabella, were simply fantastic: friendly, genuine, and always ready with a smile. They helped create the most relaxing and joyful atmosphere we could imagine.
And the food, what a lovely surprise! The cuisine is Italian at its heart, but enriched with touches of local tradition, making every dish unique, delicious, and full of flavor. Dining here was always a pleasure and something we looked forward to each day.
This has truly been the most beautiful trip of our lives, and while we’re sad to leave, we know this is not a goodbye, but just a...
Read moreWe had spent the first part of our honeymoon in Tanzania mainland, doing a safari. When arriving on Zanzibar, we had a very unfortunate event. We had booked a horrible hotel in Nungwi, which risked destroying our honeymoon. We started searching around and found this beautiful boutique hotel "Milele Beach Resort".||This beautiful hotel is owned and operated by the italian power-woman Lisa (Isabella) and her nice son Niccolo. The resort is on the beach, so you can go swimming in the ocean or go for long beach walks. There is also a pool, and a lot of sunbeds with traditional parasols/sun covers. You can order drinks and lunch to the sunbeds. Breakfast is simple but good, with omelettes, fresh fruits, juice, pastries, coffee, and so on. However, what is most important is the atmosphere. Lisa, her family and her hotel staff are very kind and they make your stay feel like you are staying with a family. We went scuba diving from a company which is 5 minutes away on foot, and also went to the famous restaurant The Rock which is 15 minutes away in car. Milele Beach Resort offers a sea-view massage spot for couples. There is music one day each week, where a local band plays music and invites the guests to dance. It was very funny, and even Lisa and her family joined the dance because her birthday coincided with the music day.||If you are a couple, or newlyweds, or looking to ignite the passion with your beloved one, this is the place to stay. We used this hotel as our base for exploring the island.||We highly recommend this hotel, and the owner Lisa, she was the SAVIOR of...
