I visited Mpole Hotel on July 20th with my friend Sinisa. We stopped by for a couple of beers and to try some of the food—and it was a fantastic experience.
We had the tuna belly with local seaweed, which was absolutely delicious. The tuna was perfectly cooked, and the local seaweed—something I had never tried before—had a wonderfully fresh, oceanic flavor.
The second dish was the smoked kachumbari salad, a beautifully elevated version of a local classic, with a deep smoky note from the katsuobushi (bonito flakes) that added a unique and elegant twist.
The food was creative and full of personality, but what really made the experience special was the service. Fernando and Thiago were incredibly warm and welcoming, making us feel truly at home.

Read moreMpole bungalows was an ideal place to spend a night in Zanzibar. It's beautiful, clean, quiet, and only steps away from a sunset facing beach. The staff is friendly and welcomes you with fresh juice.
I particularly liked the outdoor space fit with hammock beds and gardens, as well as a pool. The rooms themselves are also very nice, and the bathrooms are clean and updated.
I would say that the place is pretty out of the way, so options in terms of food are limited, but the restaurant on the grounds is quite good, and breakfast...
