In Hindi there is a proverb "āĪāĨ āĪĶāĪŋāĪāĪĪāĪū āĪđāĨ āĪĩāĨāĪļāĪū āĪđāĨāĪĪāĪū āĪĻāĪđāĨ" this implies on the dirtiest beaches of the Maldives. Many don't know about this . The pristine image of the Maldives, with its turquoise waters and white sandy beaches, has been marred by the growing menace of plastic pollution. In recent years, some beaches in the Maldives have succumbed to the invasion of plastic trash, tarnishing the once-unspoiled beauty of this island paradise.
The shores, once known for their cleanliness, now bear the burden of plastic waste washed ashore from distant lands. The crystal-clear waters that once showcased vibrant marine life are now tainted with floating debris, posing a threat to both the environment and the health of the local communities.
Plastic pollution not only disrupts the natural aesthetics of the Maldives but also serves as a breeding ground for diseases. The accumulation of plastic waste creates stagnant pools of water, becoming ideal breeding grounds for disease-carrying vectors like mosquitoes. The standing water in discarded plastic items provides a conducive environment for the proliferation of diseases such as dengue fever and malaria, posing a direct threat to the health of the islanders and tourists alike.
Furthermore, the plastics breaking down in the sun release harmful chemicals into the ecosystem, contaminating the water and affecting marine life. The delicate balance of the Maldivian ecosystem is disrupted as marine creatures mistake plastic particles for food, leading to bioaccumulation of toxins in the food chain.
Efforts to address this crisis are underway, with local communities and environmental organizations collaborating on beach clean-up initiatives. However, the challenge is immense, requiring not only local action but also global cooperation to curb the inflow of plastic waste into the oceans.
As the Maldives grapples with the consequences of dirty beaches and plastic trashes, there is a pressing need for sustained efforts in waste management, awareness campaigns, and international cooperation. Only through collective action can this island nation reclaim its pristine shores and safeguard the health of its people and the unique biodiversity that defines...
Read moreRoom-Very disappointed. The hotel advertised heavily to get money for the renovations. The reviews are not true. See for yourself from the pictures. Deluxe room with sea view. Old and dirty. Furniture need to to be fixed. Amenities are under what you can expect from paying 3,xxx baht per room. Towels are thin and smell bad. Far away from four star hotel standards. There were bugs in the room we stayed too!! We felt deceiving!!! **The only thing that good is the view which is right on the beach. Breakfast- Reviews said their breakfast is great! Sorry! The food are cold and low quality. Theyâd rather offer smaller numbers of food line but nice and fresh than serving too many bad food. Check in and Out - 3pm and out at noon but the room still not clean. DuhâĶ Payment - They are not accept foreign credit card and asked for full payment in advance. Plus, cash deposits upon check in 1,000 baht per room. They also take forever to check you out and return your money. The receptionist sounds really nice by saying all mini bars in the room are free but there are just 2 cheap brand water bottles and 2 smallest Lays potato chips that has been sitting in that room for months. Location and parking- good...
Read moreStarting 2 nights trip with elders in this hotel, requiring to change the room from 2nd floor to basement due to the old parentsâ convinence, the hotelâs reception responses to the request very well.
After check-in, we all tried to enter the room on the basement, unluckily, the former visitors left the door opened til the battery of key-card access system ran out so we cannot enter the room for a while.
The room is quite spacious. The well-selected air-conditioner, carrier brand, give low noise even maximum fan speed. There is no bad smell at all. The capacity of the air-conditioner matches with the room size thus we feel comfortable all day long.
Due to the former reviews we read before on google map, we do not expect much on the breakfast, but virtually the breakfast is quite nice comparative to all hotels we visited before.
The facilities of the hotel are quite excellent especially the swimming pool and slider for children, but quite too dangerous for the elders due to too steep and sharp turns of its shape.
Totally, our daddy and mommy feel happy spending 2 nights in this hotel.
PS. the parking lot is quite far from the room but understandable, they tried their...
