I came here with my daughter her husband and my 17 year old son.|My daughter and her husband have stayed here three times before. |We knew before we booked that this hotel is somewhat remote and a car is a must so you can get out and about. |The area is beautiful and so quiet, so if your looking for nightlife this place is not for you. |The hotel grounds are spectacular and very well kept, they are also hilly so if you have a problem walking this could be an issue if you want to explore the grounds. |We had a ground floor room in the hotel overlooking the swimming pool. The room was dated but clean and the beds were so comfy. The Wi-fi worked quite well ( better than the shower)! There is not a lot of drawer space to put your clothes and as usual I had over packed!! The room fridge was really good, I’ve found some hotel ones are useless this one was really cold and was silent running.|The room was cleaned everyday and towels were always changed ( leave on floor for this to be done)|When we arrived we realised immediately that there was an ant issue, ( worth remembering you are in the jungle) the doors onto the patio did not close without leaving a gap so space for ants and mozzies to enter. We had mozzie ‘plug in’ which we brought from previous visits and the tablets can be replenished at Tesco Lotus or 7/11 stores. We went out and got ant traps and ant chalk and the ant issue was solved. Also the mozzies with the ‘plug in’ were nowhere to be seen in the room. The whole holiday I got only one bite and this was from a red ant when out and about I did not use Deet I used Avon Soft Skin dry oil spray.|The plumbing was an issue the shower either was cold, hot or dry. |The toilet worked but remember that there is no paper flushing and there is a bucket with a lid which is emptied daily. |Breakfast was an experience it was not a buffet as it was low season and the hotel was very quiet, we were given breakfast vouchers for our whole stay when we arrived. There are loads of staff milling about and you would have expected the service to be quick, it’s not, it’s very slow and the breakfasts come out in bits and pieces and never the same amount from one plate to the next eg one plate would have 4 sausages (more a Frankfurter really) one bit of bacon and one egg and another identical order would come with one sausage and three bacons. The fried eggs are always ‘snotty’ and the the food is never really hot. There is plenty of toast and lovely jams. Make sure you have a good hour and fifteen minutes spare for breakfast!!|We did eat here several times both at lunch time and evening and the food was fine, I even had my birthday meal here and my family had been shopping and got me an Ice Cream cake which the hotel kept in their freezer until needed, it was huge so we shared it with the staff.|The swimming pool was fine we had it to ourselves most times, pool towels are free and you can change them as often as you like. There are sun beds but only had sun umbrellas twice a big Thank you to Mr Wee for pointing out the lack of them, unfortunately when you left so did the umbrellas! |The staff are very kind and helpful and are happy to do everything they can to help you. |Would I come here again and that’s a big Yes|The Hotel with a bit of clear management and a little bit of work sorting the issues could be 5* at present it is probably a 3* but in saying that I had a 5* holiday |A Big Thank You to all at...
Read moreI am shocked by the other reviews. This was not even close to being a 4 star resort. Upon checking in, we immediately noticed the extremely cheap and uncomfortable beds. In order to soften the bed we chose to use, I decided to move the comforter from the smaller bed to the larger one for padding. Upon removing the bedding I found dead bugs and flies on the mattress that had been under the sheets. GROSS. We went to bed later that night and found a terrible odor from our pillows. The pillows smelled like sweaty, dirty gym clothes. We removed the pillow cases to see if it would help, but found dark yellow sweat stains in the center of all of the pillows and that it was the pillows themselves that had the sweaty B.O. smell. We had the pillows changed out the next day, but the memory of smelling sweat stained dirty pillows all night has not left our minds. DISGUSTING.
The restaurant was cheaply priced, but eating there was completely uncomfortable. They never turned on the AC in the indoor area, so we always had to eat at the outdoor area. They provided fans to help with the heat, but we had to constantly swat away flies that tried to get into our food and in our faces.
Our unit was very small with a dated mildew covered shower and bathroom. I've seen nicer bath rooms in a Super 8 motel. There were not vaulted ceilings as shown in the photos. In fact, none of the photos on the reviews resemble our unit. The pool was pretty, but it had a massive amount of ants all over the tile edges. There were also tons of ants floating in the pool itself - which led to me being bit by ants when swimming. They also only had 4 lounge chairs around the whole pool, leaving no where to sit when the only a few other families were at the pool. There was a 2nd pool that appeared a little cleaner the first day, but there was a hot tub attached to it that was completely unmaintained. It was half filled with dirty brown standing water and green and black mildew was on all of the surfaces of the inside of the hot tub.
The last straw for us was when constant hammering and banging began at the unit next door to ours. We were never informed prior to booking or even at check in that there would a unit under construction/remodeling directly next to us. We asked for them to stop the work, and they only agreed to do it at a different time. I don't know why they chose to put us right next door to a unit being remodeled, when the resort was clearly not fully booked.
We ended up leaving the resort after 3 nights and staying somewhere else, despite the fact that we had paid for a full 7 night stay. That is how bad...
Read moreThe Karma Royal staff made sure we had an arrival pick up at the airport. There was a 750 baht fee. It is kinda far 40 min from the city but the driver asked if we wanted to stop at the supermarket before we headed to the resort which I'm glad he did becuase we stacked on milk, ham bread just quick foods to get out and go on our day food. We arrived early like at 8am and hotel staff made sure we had a temporary room for us while we waited for our room to be ready for checkin. There is a shuttle to the city every day at 10 and 6 also 1 to 9 on Saturday. Our room was awesome it had a kitchen, big living area, 2 baths. And housekeeping always came to clean our room and have fresh linens. The resort staff are all nice and respectful and always were concerned our stay was great. They also have tours for everything in Chiang Mai at your fingerprints. I also reccomend going to Grand Canyon on Wednesday's it is so much fun for couples and especially families and you can buy your tickets at the reception and the shuttle takes u there as well. I have nothing but positive things to say. I don't know why some people gave negative reviews, I was also spectacle about the reviews before booking but I'm glad i stayed here and another plus this resort is walking distance to the elephants. So you don't have to pay those high fees they charge you, you can visit for free. We didn't know this and I pre booked and had to pay $160 to another place further north east. 2 adults 1 child and...
