I need to begin by stating that we got this room for B1,200/night. That's £28/USD$34 and I apologise for not having taken any photos.||||I dislike being asked to pay upon arrival. Is it a short time joint?||||They were also "unable" to accept my Amex card, even though it's acceptance was clearly advertised.||||The room was very clean, but lacked furniture, unless you think that a plastic chair and a miniaturised easy chair are acceptable? It was also a twin, not a double||||The fridge didn't work - something I only discovered when I woke up and went for some cold milk that we had bought the night before. "I get Chang" (engineer) was the reply, when Mr Desk arrived to check it. Too late Matey, I've already had to pay.||||No hot, or even warm water available to shave in, although there was a warm shower.||||The bed was average at best.||||As a frequent traveller, I've had much better for much less.||||Breakfast:||||Rubbish and clearly targeted at the Chinese mass-tour brigade. I salvaged it as best I could, by having (undercooked) eggs on toast, after turning the toaster up from the "warm bread" setting.||||Watery/tasteless coffee (I didn't try the tea) and sundry Asian dishes that were neither well-prepared, or well presented. that's all too common in the extremely cheap sector. We walked around and found some nice coffee shops, noodle places and a couple of fun...
Read moreI'm afraid I have to agree with all the other comments about the good being bland and pretty tasteless. Pad Thai and fish cakes totally underwhelming.||Staff were pretty efficient, but you feel they're just going through the motions.||Can't decide whether the live 'muzak' added to the occasion or not. It was a bit irritating to be honest.||I think the people who rave about the place are most likely package tourists with little or no experience of just how good food around this part of the world can be!||A very worthy cause, for sure, but the food just doesn't...
