A hotel with a large well-groomed area, a magnificent swimming pool and good buffet breakfasts. My rating is 3 out of 5, points reduced due to minuses.Pros:1) Large view pool with hydromassage and fountains, free towels, many sun loungers.2) The hotel is located on a cape, the area faces east and west, where there are beautiful sunsets.3) A varied, hearty breakfast buffet: soups, hot dishes, snacks, fruits, vegetables, etc.4) It’s quiet at night and in the morning, no one disturbs your sleep if your neighbors are normal people.5) The air conditioner is powerful but quiet. Wi-Fi allows you to watch streaming video without delay.6) Every evening there is a fire show on the shore.7) 5 min walk to 7-Eleven, Lotus and makashnitsa supermarkets. Unlike 7-Eleven, Lotus sells cheap ripe fruit by weight and allows you to pay by credit card without any restrictions.Minuses:1) There is no private beach, because... The coast is rocky, but the hotel is adjacent to the large beach of the neighboring hotel.2) The restaurant is located outdoors, it is very hot after 9AM, I advise you to have breakfast no later than 8AM.3) Very large groups of Chinese come to the hotel, but this is not always the case.4) In my standard room there was no hot water (the heater was broken), the safe did not work (the power supply was torn out, and they did not give me the master key), there were no shelves for clothes in the closet or in the room, there was no shower.5) Staff theft: when leaving, I forgot a shirt and a USB flash drive in the room. In the evening I wrote to the hotel and asked to keep these things at the reception in order to personally pick them up in 2 days. They told me that they found nothing in my room. My things could only be picked up by the staff who did the check-out or cleaning the room after...

We were able to check in early which was nice for us, Villa Garden room. It shared a deck with another room with a view of the garden and ocean. The deck also had a regular sized table and 2 chairs, great for working on a laptop, visiting or playing games. The room was clean, had a large king bed (2 doubles pushed together), choice of soft or hard pillow, nice. Fridge, coffee, kettle, TV (Thai), 2 bottles of water provided. Bathroom with nice shower, separated from rest of bathroom by short wall. Good wifi. No problems with noise bothering our sleep. ||Breakfast buffet was a selection of Western and Thai, all good. They varied everyday. Also egg station, bread for toast, fresh fruit and salads also.||We loved their pool. It was large with a view of the water and deep enough for swimming but shallow enough to stand in and visit. It had lounge chairs around in the shade and sun and some had umbrellas. There is a separate small pool for the little kids. Nice vegetation around and a bathroom close by. The restaurant is next to the pool so handy to order food and beverages.||All along Khnong Prao the beach, it is getting smaller over time. Nature is taking the sand slowly and since we started going there several years ago, several metres of beach has disappeared affecting all resorts along that beach. Chai Chet has a large shaded area that opens onto the beach and had loungers for sitting. When tide is out, the loungers can be taken onto the sand for the sun lovers. We enjoy the shade and had ample room for that while enjoying the view. ||The staff were very helpful and friendly. We've stayed there several times in the past and will stay there again...

Very well run resort, ideal for our 5 days on the island. We spent our time between the beach and the lovely swimming pool, both never felt busy at all, plenty of loungers and loads of room. The beach is good for swimming, low tide you'll need to walk out a bit to get deep, but it wasn't a bother. The swimming pool is fantastic, the best we've found in Thailand. Credit to the staff, they are very attentive and friendly. Breakfast was great, they lean more towards Asian style breakfast (not a bad thing), the French toast was really nice, shame it was only available on one of the morning. My only suggestion to make the breakfast even better is to have some pastries on offer, apart from that brilliant. The rooms are comfortable and clean, yes they are slightly dated now but it almost gives off a little charm, you don't come to Koh Chang to sit in your room! The location of the resort is great, you have everything you need around you, loads of nice cheap restaurants, and a handy Seven 11. My onlu negative was the hire fee for the kayaks at 300 baht per hour which I thought was high, for this reason we didn't use them. Maybe they could be free to use for guests for 1 hour, anything past that could be charged? All in all a great stay, I'd highly recommend if you're looking for a place where you can relax, chill and enjoy the sunshine, the resort has everything you need!

Good but could easily be GREAT! Fabulous location at the top of the bay with a beach walk past loads of great bars and restaurants which are also available short walk up to the road. Very nice simple room with ac, TV and decent shower and loo..shower was only warm but that's all you need. The bad: The bed was very hard and left you with back ache even after sleeping on top of a duvet. The breakfast was pretty poor and could easily be made better with more fruit, yogurts and proper pork bacon and sausages. Even the bread could be better. The restaurant itself was very austere with little ambience for night time dining. Tried it once and did not go back as better alternatives just down the beach. There was no bar to speak of so nowhere to sit and chat with other guests at all. This was a massive let down IM0 as it could easily be sorted by putting upup a wooden beach bar on the land that sticks out beside the river into the sea in front of the hotel at the end of the beach. It would be a massive positive addition to the hotel not only for guests but would also attract more punters from the beach as it would command a beautiful position on the bay. MAKE IT HAPPEN PLEASE!! Would we stay again? Probably Yes

My family and I spent just over a week at this place for Christmas. We've been coming to Chang for years and this had so far been the most pleasant stay. I thought it was great value for money. The location was excellent with direct beach access, and local shops and massages etc etc. We stayed in hillside villa(I think) and it was everything we needed for 2 adults and 1 teen. Clean, no bugs, quiet and a nice view. Breakfasts was plentiful with lots of choice and everything very tasty. Fruit, soups, noodles, toast, ham, omelette etc etc. Breakfast staff were very efficient as were the reception staff. All the ladies at reception spoke perfect English, were very helpful and welcoming and very cute! The on-site masseuse was probably the best massage I had......and I had many from various places. This lady was a real pro not a standard rub down like most places. Such a shame that I discovered her on my last day😭. I could have easily spent 2-3 hours with her each day. I'm definitely coming back to this place and I hope that nothing has changed when I return ...... which hopefully will be soon. Thank you all at Chai Chet Martin
