Great to be back after the forced co-vid break. Took the plane to Trat, a reserved min-bus to the ferry and then to the hotel, about 2 1/2 hours after deplaning. Check in was fast and taken to room, a Superior Bungalow, beachfront (first time trying one here). It was truly beachfront, a few steps to the water with a large deck (no shade), two sitting chairs and short table. It was a large room, king bed, sitting area with couch, sliding glass doors to the deck. Also, TV (all Thai), fridge, coffee, tea, kettle, 2 bottles water, safe, work area with chair. The bathroom was large, tub with hand shower, in the middle, a bit above the tub (not high enough to shower). At night, the room is quite bright from all the grounds lighting. Generally good wifi. You can choose how often to make up the room, we had it done every 2 or 3 days, think that might be better for the environment. On the off days, they deliver a bag of room amenities plus 2 bottles of water.||We've stayed here before co-vid and not much has changed at the hotel, there is much less beach due to a storm about 4 years ago followed by beach erosion but still room for beach chairs. There is a breakfast buffet with a mix of Thai and Western dishes. The Thai dishes were tasty and spiced for tourists. There was an egg station, bread, fruits, coffee, teas, overall, very good. ||They also have a beach restaurant, Yen Sabay, this is open for lunch and supper and is quite good too, also can buy beverages there. It is a large older hotel with many levels of room and have two swimming pools. There is a 7-Eleven, Lotus Fresh and Vee Mart on the street in front, a few restaurants, shops and vendors at night, a great location. There was a weekend night market across from 7-Eleven with music in a newly built area that also has new toilets. ||This is an older hotel and is showing its age but we still like it. We've stayed here before and will stay again...
Read moreMy wife and I booked the whole of February at this resort. |After a 21hr journey we were greeted by unhappy, unhelpful reception staff. |Our first room had a disgusting smell in the bathroom coming from the sink; the waste pipe must have been connected directly to the main sewage pipe and via a "U" trap.|We complained and insisted on a room change as this was a health hazard. Our room was changed after much debate.|Sadly, whilst the location and beach is lovely, the same cannot be said of the Resort. The entire resort is very tired and in need of a complete makeover. The bathroom ceiling leaked and when it rains everything gets soaking wet (including toilet roll).|The housekeeping team were lovely and friendly, sadly, most of the rest of the staff were not, the atmosphere was not at all inviting and there was an obvious grievance between the breakfast staff. The other resorts/bars we visited along the beach were very friendly and there was always a warm welcome. |It also appeared that many ‘non-resident’ guests could stroll up and use the deckchairs and other facilities un-challenged. There are NO sunbeds other than about 20 around the pool. If you want to beat the Germans or Russians putting towels on the beds to reserve them, then “Good Luck”. |If you are looking to come to Kho Chang it’s a lovely Island with lots to see and do, rent a car for 1000-1500 baht/day, it is well worth it, but stay at another resort -...
Read moreWe had 8 fantastic nights here and the highlight of our 5 weeks in Thailand and Vietnam.|Our first room had been made up to welcome us! We were later upgraded to an ocean view bungalow which was amazing. It was very hard to pick out an individual on the team who excelled, as from the staff on reception, the dining room, the house keeping, the garden and pool guys all contributed to our great stay. |Our room was spotless, the gardens and beach were manicured, the breakfast was a variety of western and Thai dishes which we never tired of the selection and was constantly replenished. Around the pool there are sunbeds and on the beach there are deck chairs |The beach is super safe and clean, no adverse currents and runs shallow to allow padding and then swimming. |The beach bar was great and surprisingly not expensive unlike some other hotels I’ve stopped in.|Around and about, we eat out in local restaurants, in particular Yummy, which was great value. There’s a 7/11 on the door and other places to restaurant options. |We also had a couple of trips to Long Beach where the night life is a little more lively.|I look forward to a return visit next year and probably take a little longer...
