Everest Resort, Samui — Hotel in Ko Samui

Booked for 4 nights for 1 adult. Also on a budget. I forgot how much I paid, I think just under 4000 baht. The area looks nice, very junglely, lots of greenery.

There are a couple of things that caught my attention:

When I got to my room, it’s basically like a wooden structure (treehouse vibes). The walls are made out of straw and stapled to the wood. Before coming in, the door had difficulty being opened by staff. When I entered there was not much. Upon closer inspection, the flooring has dents here and there, potential splinters… Nothing was plugged in, I had to plug my fridge in and it didn’t even work. The toilet was wet and the toilet seat itself was stained yellow. Above the toilet there were cocoons and some mosquitos. The bathroom floor itself doesn’t look up to date as in looks like just cement and no actually flooring. One of the windows couldn’t be closed fully. Aircon and fan work but still quite warm. While checking the room itself, spider webs and spiders on the ceiling corners. A grasshopper on my TV A daddy long legs by the toilet. Two geckos playing with each other making sounds. Just settling in and I hear sounds coming from the walls. I couldn’t even unpack my bag because of how gross it was? I’m worried I’m gonna be bitten alive if I stay the night. a spider appeared and went somewhere in the room just realized that the controller for the aircon is missing My room door doesn’t even close properly. If you are looking for something like living in the jungle this is a place for you. But if you want something more luxurious then this is DEFINITELY not it. Overall, there’s just icky feeling for me being in the room.

On another note: the boss was busy on a phone call (which yes it can be busy) he didn’t even say welcome or anything and no one was at reception? I had to go find someone to help me. Staff are really friendly too. You will not be able to get a refund after the deadline and should double check the room you are booking. The photo they provided was not the same as the...

WORST EXPERIENCE SO FAR! This place is rotten and smells very moldy. I started having runny nose and swolled eyes in the mornings. We had one of these better rooms with kitchen. We could not get the door locked properly becouse other side or the building is sinking to the ground. Building is on the verge of collapse. Kitchen did not have any equipment to really cook anything, not even plates. Nothing to wash dishes with. Staff was rude and arrogant. We stayed one week, they cleaned room once, no clean towels or bedsheets. No toiletpaper unless you ask. When neibour flushed their toilet , smelling water started to leak under our sink. This place is an embarrassment. After checking into to our bungalow we discover the toilet doesn't flush and the bathroom door won't close. Told the owners, they send repair guys. Repair guys decide to open the septic tank lid right outside our bungalow. As a result, our room smells like a sewer for the next hour. The toilet flushes now but so weakly we don't want to risk using it. The bathroom door still doesn't close. The owner now starts playing games: "what's the big deal, you just booked for one night". Then he offers another room but after seeing what kind of person this is, we opt to leave. This guy has zero pride in his business and it shows. Of course there no refund, I'm not surpised.
