Micky Monkey Beach Hotel — Hotel in Mai Khao

First of all the food (as others already said) is not even worth talking about. And if the wind comes from the sea their bbq fire is moving into your bungalow every night. Mattresses should be replaced as soon as possible to avoid back pain and bed bugs. All day long there was noise because they're currently cutting all the trees in their backyard which is btw scattered with lots of trash that the chicken are eating. The cock makes sure that you wake up at 4:30am. I also found their Burmese staff quite demotivated in assisting, maybe that's why the food didn't taste good as well.||Meanwhile I found much better alternatives a few minutes South: Seaside Cottages (where you can also bring a tent) with a recommended restaurant, Maikhao Beach Bungalows / TonTan restaurant, and OYO 538 Bungalows. All of them very clean, friendly, with good local food, and they do not just dump their trash...

We stayed at the Renaissance next door so can't comment on the accommodation. |What I would like to review is the food and drinks.||Initially we found the staff a little surly , but a few smiles and compliments about the food seemed to make a difference. ||We found the food to be very good. We tried most of the dishes including their club sandwich , which I found to be one of the best club sandwiches I've tasted! The Thai dishes were outstanding, the Tom Yum soup was the best I've ever had. The chicken with cashews, shrimp dishes, pineapple fried rice and pad Thai were very tasty, all at very reasonable prices. The watermelon drinks, coconut juice were col and delicious, as were all the cocktails which were half the price of our hotels. |Then there's the location with stunning views of the sunsets.|By the end of our holiday the staff were friendly and pleased...

We had a reservation and a confirmation for an extra bed by email from the hotel. When we arrived... extra bed was not there... so we asked for one... they brought it but the bamboo bungalow is so small that it didn't fit inside... we could not bring our bags inside... was too small. |We check-in after collecting some cash far from the hotel cause the card machine at the hotel was not working. |Bathroom was the most dirty one we had in a 10 years experience in low budget hotel in Thailand. |But most of it... the girl at the reception was the most unfriendly person we have met in our trips. Very aggressive even before we saw the room. We didnt feel welcome at all. |We decided not to stay there and we didn't even touched the room but she refunded only 50% of the amount. |It is a shame... really... the place is great and they could do much...
