Lay Mai Khao Seafood Restaurant — Restaurant in Mai Khao

This is a very wonderful place with a beautiful atmosphere the sound of the waves crashing against the beach with a beautiful sunset really sets off the value of this place. The price of the food is unfortunately a bit on the highest sign compared to other Thailand restaurants, but you are paying more for the atmosphere. I do not recommend getting the lobster or the crab here because I do think it is very overpriced, but the other dishes are reasonably priced given the location.

The steamed Seabass with with lemon sauce was very tender and delicate paired well with white rice. We had the Otha which was basically curried, fish and other seafood in a young coconut. The coconut flesh provided a nice sweetness that complimented the seafood. This was my wife’s favorite dish from the restaurant.

The vermicelli with crab was a bit disappointing with the flours of the broth, not as sweet and seafood, like as we had expected.

All in all, this was a very good dinner with a beautiful atmosphere and great company. If you are staying at the nearby Marriott hotel I do highly recommend making the trip over which is only a five minute walk from the edge of the property to this restaurant and enjoying yourself a beautiful seaside dinner And...

My party of 4 adults went there after looking at reviews on Google Maps. When we called to make a reservation, they offered to come pick us up from our hotel along Mai Khao area.

The owner Meow came promptly to pick us up and drove us to the restaurant. The location is quite deep in, away from the main road. We selected our dinner from the fresh seafood on display, and waited for our dinner.

We had a total of 8 dishes of fresh steamed fish, grilled squid, prawns, stir fried blue crab in chilli paste, clam soup, fried morning glory and 2 portions of fried rice, 4 fresh coconuts and 1 bottle of Chang beer. The very reasonable bill surprised us as all that cost under THB2000! The food was excellent, very tasty and very fresh.

We saw many people walk to the restaurant next to Lay Maikhao. They really don’t know what they are missing. We were totally satisfied and this was a great dinner for us to end our holiday in Phuket. We will be back on our next trip here!

We had our dinner at Lay Mai Khao just now. It is just 1 min walk from Holiday Inn Mai Khao. We traveled to Phuket few times and we found this restaurant is the best. Although this is a small local restaurant, without air con the food exceeded our expectation. Owner and staff are very kind and pleasant. Saw many locals having dinner here. We are a group of 10 includes senior citizens and young children. We ordered 10 dishes; fish, prawn, squid, fried rice and etc.... love the seafood cooked in fresh coconut. Super delicious!!!!!! And only cost us Usd62! Can’t express how satisfied we are after having our dinner here. They allow us to bring our beer too! We prebook fresh tuna and tiger prawn for our next meal 😊. You can also buy some fresh food and mango sticky rice from next stall.
