The hotel is quite far from the city centre. Though you can access to the nearest mrt station, it takes some interchanges in between lines which is so distant. If you grab a taxi, you have to pay for highway fee or else also ends up an hour on single way to the city centre. The lobby doesn't look like 5 stars at all. The room looks new with everything. However the fixture of the appliances are not secure, especially inside the toilet. We have been assigned a room in the lower floor and it is quite noisy as the window is only single layer and the highway and train station just ouside the room. The shower hose has leakages and we requested to fix it on the next morning as we checked in very late at night. However the conceierge couldn't really understand my opinion in English and even questioned if i had broken the hose. I asked for a change of the room because of the noise and leakage of the shower hose problem and they finally entertained my request. However they requested me to sign and acknowledgement to show that it was a problem not caused by my party. Actually i haven't come across this kind of requests as i have ever reported defects in hotels of different countries. Breakfast has only limited choices and little varieties from day to day. The roads downstairs are too quiet even during the daytime. Not recommended to single female travelers. The nearest Big C is around 15-20mins walk which is not convenient at all. No convenient stores except the one on the opposite side. Seems that it is part of a service apartment rather than a typical 5 star hotel. Nobody came and clean the room without requests. Staff are not too...
Read moreThe BEST part about my stay was the STAFF! I stayed for a long while due to work and they were very patient and accommodating. They strive to fulfill my every need. KUDOS to FO Manager Num's team: Nok and Looknam, Nhoo , Ice, Kaew, Nugning, Nush, Guy, Ake, Organ, and Yaya! I had various requests for help and everyone gave me kind service. The cleaning service person on the 21st floor, the two apartment engineers, and the kind young lady who made my scramble egg orders should also be commended (I'm sorry I missed their names). But it's important to know that the team at Oakwood Tiwanon takes GOOD CARE of you!
The apartment has a spectacular view from a high floor, with two AC units, a living area, a full kitchenette with a combined washer/dryer, and a service toilet (with the built-in bidet). The area was quiet and comfortable. There's a balcony and comfy large bed or twin beds, if preferred. My only pet peeve was no matter how hard the engineers tried, the shower temperature was always muted to a lukewarm temperature. Other than that, all was perfect.
There's a late-night Shabu-Shabu place up the road one way (20 minute walk, 4 minutes by Bolt) and a 7 Eleven not too far the other way (10 minutes or less), with street food vendors close to it. Don't be afraid to try the street food! Great and cheap. The BTS station is also near there.
With such a good price for 5-Star stay, I couldn't find a better value. And I tried! 😅 I went on two trips out of the city and Oakwood kept my bags stored for FREE! Whenever I returned from a trip, I always came back to...
Read moreThis hotel is the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. Ordered a smoking room for different rate, hotel is all non smoking. Was told a completely different price than when I booked online and when I got there to pay. Absolutely ZERO organization at the reception desk. One person grabbed my passport and passed me off the another, they took my passport and then handed it off twice before I even knew who I was working with and that person didn't even have my passport when it was all over. They consistently kept asking my wife to sign instead of me and I can only assume it's because she's Thai. Shower just randomly leaks 30 minutes after use. Dryer kept my clothes hostage after the cycle was completed. Reception desk has no idea what time things in the hotel close. I was told 2 different times for the bar hours and it was just closed anyway. Taxis have no idea how to get into the drop off for the hotel, lanes not clearly marked. Bus boy is very aggressive and nearly closed my whole leg in the taxi after literally throwing my bags in the trunk like he doing try outs for DHL. You have to drive ALL the way around this thing to get to the front! I asked for extra soap and a towel at the hotel and they said they would deliver it to the room but by this point I figured I'd never get it anyway so I'm on my way to...
