Stayed in room 410 .23 to 26 sep 24. As I reached the porch , the bellboy arrived to carry my luggage, which was a relief as there was a flight of stairs ahead.. As I climbed the 'stairway to heaven' I was flummoxed ,as there were no huge doors to push or turnstile door to spin, to gain entry into it's sanctuary . Instead It felt that mother nature was welcoming me with her open eyes into her heart ,a feeling that evoked my first, love at first sight . Hoteliers build mammoth lobby's filled with huge murals , triptych paintings , tall statues ,wall filling tapestry ,artificial trees , marble obelisk pillars ,crystal chandeliers , designer mood lighting, glass and chrome , man made waterfall and fountains , intricately designed carpets , leather couches, aroma therapy filled air-conditioned air, iconic branded showrooms filled with luxury goods and a guy playing a piano to entice you into their homage to hedonism. At #Como yamu Phuket lobby , theirs no restraining entry or even a back wall , instead you are greeted by a panoramic vista of lush green hills and swaying trees and plants and a wraparound blue sea as far as the eyes can see .So basically theirs no need for air-conditioning or synthetic aroma filled air as the lobby's ventilation has been designed to allow the free flow of fresh oxygen rich air from the hills , with no human habitation , cooled by the sea water to fill your lungs and cleanse them . the pitter-patter of rain drops and the chirping of birds was music to the ear. The only artifact's are local hand made , mainly woven , art pieces that are an eclectic showcase of the local craftsmanship. A temple bell creates a calm serene meditative experience. The pathway to the rooms is through a corridor that has a sunlit sky roof that doesn't allow heat but some diffused light only which like kaleidoscope reflections, from the woven rattan design of the walls creates changing patterns from the sun's movement during the day .the chandeliers are metal strip copy of lobster traps and in the evening they all blink like stars through a nebula . Their is no line at the front desk . instead you are greeted by a staff in the local language , escorted to a comfortable couch where you sit back and refresh your self with a cool towel and a local invigorating drink as they take your passport and complete the check in formalities. I was upgraded to a bay suite and as both the bedroom and living room are adjacent and face the sea , the balcony size doubles enough for two daybeds and a coffee table with two chairs. The sunset views were so heavenly that the ritual inculcated over lock down during corona, whatsApp video group calls to my school gang over drinks in the evening, which now became a real sundowner, left them intoxicated from the view. Meals at 5 star hotels usually are so heavy and rich with butter and cream that after one meal , you tend to go out for the remaining ones . First time in my life at a breakfast buffet restaurant, instead of putting my bread slice in a toaster and then coming back after picking up some eggs , to find somebody else had filched it , there was a staff member who toasted it over coals to get the correct crunch , colour as well as aroma and delivered it at my table along with the a la carte eggs to order. The dishes were local Thai or Italian and so healthy and fresh that I enjoyed all three meals during my four days at the hotel, without an urge to go out for a change. The spa room with the massage table faced the sea and a a similar suspended "staiway to heaven" entry . This is not a 5 star retreat that entices you to splurge on things for consumption-possession sake and to get a high when you tell your friends about it . It's an abode in mother nature's womb , where you disconnect from the chaotic life ,unwind, build umbilical memories with this sanctuary, in seclusion with your cherished one's for a...
Read moreMy partner and I came here for 5 days to end our 3 week Thailand vacation. After the hustle and bustle of amazing Bangkok and Chiang Mai, we are so happy to have chosen this place at the end because it allowed us to fully relax and rejuvenate before we head back to reality.
We stayed in a suite. We had a spectacular view of the sea in a beautifully designed room by Italian designer Paola Navone. We really loved the room except for the side lights in the bedroom. Danger alert, please watch your head! Paola should change the light covers with soft fabrics or rattan so when you hit your head, it does not feel like you just hit your head on a rock. We hit ours a total of 7 painful times. We informed the managers and hopefully they will replace the light cover soon before someone seriously cracks their head.
Our package came with breakfast. Definitely recommended. Their main restaurant LA Serena offers superb breakfast with good healthy options. LA Serena also offers lunch and dinner fair. For lunch, it's basically your only option and they serve Italian cuisine. There are so many Italian restaurant in luxury hotels in Thailand. Wished Serena offered more than just Italian food or offer something contemporary or one of a kind cuisines. Because of the isolated location, there was not really much food option and a good restaurant beyond basic Italian would be nice. Now for Dinner, we spent 4 of our 5 nights at their Thai restaurant called Namyaah. We basically tried all the food here and we loved it. We will miss this place.
The SPA. Omg..don't miss this spot. I used their pool and loved it. We got an amazing 90 minute massage. Our favourite activity in the hotel is their morning Yoga. A great way to start our day. Their Yoga teacher is awesome.
Photo opportunities... lots of beautiful spots. Be shameless...enjoy, take lots of instagrammable photos.
SERVICE - they have great staff here. Friendly and forever with that that beautiful Thai smiles that just makes me want to move here. Thank you to ZON at the front desk for making sure we had a great stay. Best wishes in your hospitality career. I am confident you will go very far. Thank you to WA and JANE at the pool bar. It was so night to always end our day there. Thank you SANDY at Namyaah. I will forever remember that vegetable dish made for me on my last day. Thank you MIMI at LA Serena for your amazing service. Thank you to our room attendants. I wished I got your names but thank you so much for the hospitality. Last but not least, thank you Franz for hearing our concerns, taking actions, and for the fond farewell.
This is our second COMO hotel experience and definitely not the last. We are already planning our next big vacation with COMO in...
Read moreResort is beautifully designed, has great views of the Andaman sea and offers a great spa. Unfortunately the general level of service and the quality of the villa interior leave much to be desired given its price point (we paid something like sgd 3k per night for a 3-bedroom villa).
Issues: Nobody reached out to enquire about our arrival time prior to our arrival - this is pretty basic for any hotel / resort that claims to be a luxury offering. If they had asked is about this and informed us that our villa won’t be ready at the time of arrival, we would have factored that into our travel plans We received a fairly lacklustre welcome upon arrival - I counted at least two occasions where our vehicle pulled up to the lobby and there was no staff around to open our door or welcome us (I honestly don’t tend to notice these things because this is just so basic that I only pick up on the absence of these gestures) The villa itself has so much potential but is poorly maintained - air-conditioning didn’t work in half the rooms, most of the international plugs didn’t work and there is this nasty issue of bees flying into our villa every morning (and one evening a couple of bees flew in while we were enjoying the in-villa bbq and the staff that served us just stood around and gawked lol - my husband ended up being stung by the bee) On one of the days we returned to the villa at 2pm and cleaning for that day still hadn’t been done (which meant that our dirty plates from the previous night was all still left on the dining table etc) - again, unacceptable given the price point What really took the cake was our last morning where the lady that served us our in-villa breakfast gave us a real stinker of an attitude - they had forgotten one of the coffees we ordered and when I asked about it, she first said I did not order it and then said, “If you want coffee, you can make it yourself using the Nespresso machine in your kitchen.” I was too stunned to respond. She then followed up with another kicker, “If you need anything else, please look for your butler”. Wow - being gaslit by a resort employee while on vacation is definitely a first. This incident really soured my mood for the rest of the morning.
Only saving grace was our butler Anna, who tried her best and was lovely. Otherwise, I would sum this entire experience up as: Not worth your money. Not a luxury resort....
