This is a tough review for me to write I probably would have given them a five-star except for two issues
When I arrived at the hotel on the motorcycle I rented at the port upon arrival, they told me they offered free motorcycles and I didn't need to rent one. Well I had seen one comment about a free motorcycle but I didn't know if that was with the type of room or did everybody get a free one so I searched the website thoroughly looking for information about free motorcycles but there was no information. There was no indication at the hotel offered free motorcycles She told me I should have called Which makes no sense, how many people book a hotel and then call and ask if there are any free amenities not listed on the website?
Several days into my stay I discovered a injured cat on the property that the staff was aware of and somebody had put some food out which was old and dried out, and there was a bowl with dirty water in it Naturally I brought the cat some food and clean water and asked the staff what had happened to it because it looked like it was on its last leg and was about to pass They didn't speak English and could only say accident I cared for it throughout the day, but sadly, by the next morning it had passed I gave her a proper burial And I regret not immediately rushing her to a vet, if there even is one on the island But the cat had clearly been there a while and that condition and was emaciated I find it unconscionable that they knew of the animals accident / misery and didn't do anything to care for it I realize there are cultural differences, and they don't always have the wherewithal to take care of an animal, but I guarantee if they had put a donation box up all the foreigners would have pitched in to help get the...
Read moreGot a really good stay at the villa. Good and clean room though the bathroom is a little old but it fictions well not broken (just stayed one night in a room with broken toilet, not a good experience). I got the room through Agoda around B1300 or $40 (it's covid price, normally it's more than that). The free breakfast here is pretty ok (English breakfast or poridge set).
They have motobike for rent, 200B each (however the price could change after post covid). There a lot of people tying to selling you a speed boat service to the island for B150 per person while you can just get on a slow boat for B30. The slow boat takes around 30mn to reach the island. Just walk to the end of the dock and you will see a one storey boat waiting and one fee collector standing next to the boat.
This one is extra: Tien Beach is the best beach you can find on the island, trust me I've checked all of them and not even one come close to Tien Beach. Another bonus, there is one restaurant with very good view on the farthest end of the island if you leave from the dock, it's at the right side, the restaurant name is, Chleang Tha Lae (not sure if I write the name correctly in English but that's pretty much how its called in Thai), but the...
Read moreHaving seen most of the other accommodation whilst being here I believe I made an excellent choice in staying at The Bee Orchid , the room is clean, the pool is a decent size and open until 21-00 and the staff are all polite, I found the bed uncomfortable but that is a personal thing I believe , if you like a firm bed then it certainly was.
The hotel is 4 minutes walk from Nabaan pier , you could walk here or contact reception who will arrange to have you collected when you arrive on the ferry.
There are some good restaurants in the area offering quality food at reasonable prices and you are also near to many shops and the food market which more than adequately served my needs .
To explore the island you simply walk about 5 minutes and have a full range of transport available to take you where you need to go.
I had a sea view room (great view) which involved climbing the steps pictured which was no problem for me , there are pool view and garden view rooms at...
