The rooms match the price - don’t expect luxury or city type comforts from a cabin in the woods for 20€ and you will be alright. Yes, there might be mosquitos or bugs but that’s part of being in nature. I found it very tamed and didn’t even need to use antibug spray. The cabins are clean and the river view is nice. It’s a good place to stay for 1-2 nights to do the day trip in the lake. It is very remote with nothing around so bring snacks :) The service is appalling and brings the review down. The staff don’t speak almost any English but they also seem not interested in service. Every interaction we had with them was painful, trying to explain or ask basic questions about room, food or check in with the help of Google were met with lots of confusion and little care. I was walking down the bridge by the river and my foot fell through making a hole in the old surface. I ended up injuring myself and with a fright but when I told the reception they didn’t seem to care or take any preventions from ensuring this doesn’t happen again. The bridge by the swing is dangerous and should be closed down as it breaks under your feet!
The food in the restaurant was the worst we had in Thailand, little choice, watery soups, dry rice etc. They would get our orders wrong and we had to wait for a long time even when it’s not busy. Once we were refused dinner saying the restaurant was closed with no prior warning. With no other food options around, we were left starving and had to leave early to airport without breakfast. Next time I would stay somewhere else, although the cabins are not bad but the interactions with staff drained my patience and the restaurant is one I would happily never...
Read moreWe booked this place as we were wondering what to do after our amazing stay in Khao Lak. It was about 7pm when we decided to go there. Not the easiest to find because google location (if you follow English name of this place)is wrong and takes you few kilometers away from it. Thanks to amazing local people from the street food place we managed to find it. One we got there two ladies were waiting providing us with keys. We were amazed by the place. Given two little houses on the edge to the forest with a direct view onto the river, that night was an unforgettable experience. Just the river and forest/jungle noises all night long, and yeah full moon on that night too. They could do with a net over your beds so you can fully left doors fully open but it is still very fine. Quite basic breakfast, a bit challenging was to order two veggie sets but google translator helped :) We noticed that during the day quite decent amount of red big ants was storming our lovely houses on the outside walls, but it did not bothered us, as we went out to explore the beauty of the lake and the Dam. Highly recommend the place for those who just want...
Read moreWe were unsure of this place from reading the reviews but really didn't think it was that bad. Free breakfast is buffet style 8-10 and it does get colder the later you come, but it does the job. The staff were super lovely we thought and the drinks were decent price. Food a bit more expensive and we ate elsewhere. You do need to arrange transport (we got a motorbike from a local company that did pick up and drop off) as its pretty awkward to get to/from. Not far from the pier to get a boat around the lake (main reason we came so that was ideal)! Sitting by the river is lovely and we managed to catch it when the dam opened and the river filled up. The room was fine but the insect part is definitely true - we had ants, mosquitos, a millipede, lizard and a huntsman managed to crawl into our bed sheets!! But that's all part of the fun, as it is quite remote! We stayed in a garden view room; there is a fridge, shower was decent, the tv didn't really work but overall it was a cool private shack with a good aesthetic that is different to other places we've stayed! Plus we only...
