I believe everything happens for a reason. When I arrived in Trat via a minibus from Bangkok, I expected to boat to Koh Kood upon arrival. That didn't happen as there were no more boats for the day. So, we had to go to the Laem Sok marina to book a boat for the next day. Rather than taking the lengthy ride back in to uptown Trat, we decided to stay near the marina. Best decision ever!||||I wasn't sure what to expect out there. I had never been to Trat and the area around the marina was particularly quiet. That's when we stumbled upon this gem. Located a short walk from the (extremely long) marina, the walk-up felt welcoming. The first thing I noticed was the pool. I was placed in a room directly facing the pool; the front porch was maybe 10-15 feet from the water. I thoroughly enjoyed the pool, especially in the sweltering weather.||||The room was fairly basic. The bathroom was the traditional shower/toilet combo with no divider, but the beds were comfortable. These were the rooms to the left of the pool once you enter, not the elevated rooms to the right. The family who runs this place was very accommodating and made sure the room was satisfactory before entering.||||By nightfall, my girlfriend and I took a second walk down the marina to the very end (again, it's super long) and I didn't expect to see much along the way, aside from the few fishermen we crossed. I was, again, very wrong. Unnoticeable from the front, there was a lively group of people selling all sorts of food and playing music from their vehicles at the end of the marina. Be careful here though. There are cars and trucks coming in and out and some of them are driving at a high rate of speed. Photos from the marina can be accessed via my profile.||||By morning back at Analay, we grabbed a quick breakfast at the front before a shuttle picked us up and dropped us by the boat. All in all, the value is very much worth the price.||||Pros:||- Close to the boat for Koh Kood||- Quiet area||- Clean pool||- Friendly family/staff||- Great breakfast||||Cons:||- Basic room amenities; nothing eye-popping, but most certainly...
Read moreWe booked this place to be close to the boat shuttle to Ko Kut / Koh Kood Island scheduled for the next morning. The owner was very helpful and took care of sorting out things with regard to the boat ticket.
However, the hotel was the worst we ever stayed in, and even if this place would be the last hotel on earth we would rather sleep on the street. The rooms (actually containers) were pretty much run down. The bedsheets were torn (but at least appeared washed). We had plenty of insects in the room and we don’t want to know which creatures walked around on us during the night. The toilet was completely yellowed and the shower appeared unusable with the bathroom cladding actually falling apart. The pool itself was nice, according to our kids. However, it was the first time I saw an artificial turf carpet around a pool. The breakfast was remarkable: Some sort of what they think of western style breakfast, which even the asian tourists got for food - and they actually ate it. The room rate was bold, especially when considering what you get for it. Bottom line: Should I ever again need to sleep in this area, I would rather book something in Trat city and finding a taxi to get to the boat. Three stars to service because of the help with the tickets. They also require the room rate to be paid in cash, the next ATM is roughly 30min by car. Actually their photographer would...
Read moreCheck in and chill out has so much potential. But the place is very run down, and really dirty - it seemed like the rooms hadn't been cleaned in ages and the linen was dirty and stained. However it's comfortable enough. Don't expect any communication - it's near impossible to get hold of them or get replies via email. The food is okay, but they don't cater for vegetarians - the breakfast is literally a pile of raw cabbage 😅 The organisation to get to the ferry was dismal too - the transport was almost 30 minutes late. If you're looking for a easy spot to stay over before catching the ferry in the morning, definitely keep...
