Corniche Palace Hotel — Hotel in Maghreb

I am unsure as whether it is Expedia's fault or the fault of the hotel. On Expedia the Hotel Corniche gets 3.5 stars so I didn't expect too much, nor did I wish to spend too much but having seen the photos on Expedia's website I decided that it was a good choice - it wasn't.||The room was filthy - including the bathroom where we discovered that the sink tap just came off!! We did not have hot water - so upon arrival it was cold showers in more way than one!! The towels - all of them (2) were smelly and had holes in them. There were no toiletries at all in the bathroom and a tiny roll (used) of toilet paper. ||I had booked a double bed which turned out to be two singles pushed together. There was no fridge let alone a mini bar, no safe, and absolutely no WiFi so I could not work. In fact, I had to go to the trouble of buying a Tunisian dongle which meant that I was fortunate enough to have Tunisian colleagues who were willing to give their ID cards/passport details in order to purchase one. I had tried using the WiFi in the lobby but nothing worked.||The worst thing of all was that the staff couldn't care and the manager never bothered coming to try to sort things out for us. As I was travelling from Italy, I used Experdia.it - so I tried phoning them every day many times a day without success - all I got was "our operators work from a call centre in Cairo, Egypt and then the line went dead!!||After a few days of unsupportable discomfort and extremely poor service as well as an increasing stress factor given the frustration, I decided to accept my losses and move to another hotel.||I recommend that this hotel, the Hotel Corniche, is to be avoided at all costs - This is September of 2017 so perhaps the hotel will change management and therefore improve - everything changes and let's hope that it changes...

Please avoid to stay in this hotel as much as you can. My friend’s room was in a terrible state the AC was broken and it was boiling hot in the room, we asked them to fixe it, they said they will send someone, 3hours later nothing has been done, we went back to the reception to ask again and they told us that AC cannot be fixed for this night, so we asked them to move my friend to another room, in which they said the hotel is completely full which was not true. So at the end they suggested that my friend sleeps in my room. We asked them for refund but they said that’s not their policy and can’t do it and kept saying that we need to accept that this is how things are run here. Bad experience in this hotel, my friend’s room was in bad condition AC was broken and the staff wasn’t helpful at all, we asked for another room and told us that the hotel was full which was not true. So they suggested that my friend stays with me. In the morning we went and ask for refund but they refused and insisted that it is not possible and that AC sometimes broke and they can’t do nothing about it. Adding to it the hotel was full of drunks fighting and causing problems, it was dirty, staff was horrible and the food was beyond disgusting. I do not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy.
