Hotel Ez-Zahra Dar Tunis — Hotel in Maghreb

The hotel is located beautifully at the Bay of Tunis with access to the beach and a great view of Cap Bon, Sidi Bou Said and Carthage, there is quite literally no other hotel with this view, and that alone is enough to recommend it, so do ask for a sea view. ||||That being said the hotel is run down and in dire need of repairs. I have stayed at this hotel twice in 6 years, and it has looked similarly rundown for that whole period. Interestingly the same people all still work there, so it felt a bit like home coming back. ||But because the facilities and staff haven't been updated there are some running issues including a terrible breakfast buffet, waiting around a while before someone can let you out to the pool (as the pool is also used by local kids, they lock the doors), lifts not alway working, tv and fridges that doesn't work and at the end they adamantly insisted that we had used the minibar because they found a red wine bottle in the bin, despite the fact the neither me or my wife drinks red wine. ||||Despite all the short comings and the looks there is nothing that should make your stay unpleasant.||||||Yes it is not a great hotel, but for me having a memory of sitting outside on the balcony after midnight eating a tunisian sandwich and enjoying the lights of Sidi Bou Said with my wife definetly balances up...

We spent one night at hotel Ezzahra tunis, our flight was delayed 24 hours so tunisair booked a single room there for my wife and 9 months kid. I wanted to join them so I asked the receptionist

I joind my wife and I was willing to pay the upgrade to a double room. The receptionist (lamine) was so rude to us the upgrade was 101.6 DT I gave him 120 DT he didn't have change so he gave me two options, I wait till after dinner to get my change back (18.4) or he will not upgrade the room and I should find a different hotel (knowing that we were very tired from the flight and being with a 9 months old kid made things worse).

I asked him if I can pay at the check out he refused (which is not normal) and I asked to talk to his manager and he ignored my request.

Thank you lamine for ruining our stay in the hotel and ruining the whole experience.

I hope the management do something about their stuff...

I stayed at this hotel 5 years ago and, although it was not top notch, it was worthy of the label of comfortable. This time around, this FILTHY, STINKING place is just totally a shameful dump.

The entire place smells of cigarette smoke, the furniture is old and dirty, the food is of the poorest standard imaginable for a hotel, the staff have disgusting service rendering and have a care-free attitude towards their customers. The bedding stinks of dirt, obviously the pillows are old and smell of sweat accumulated on it for years. The sliding doors to the balcony need you to fight with them just to open.

The worst was the scam pulled by one of their bar staff when he forged my friend's signature on some receipt to bill him for 18 beers that my friend never had, then they say my other friend is the one who forged my friend's signature! Drama. I will never set foot there again, and so you...
