Summary of my review: Would I return? Yes. Would I recommend the AQI Skanes Resort/Skanes Family to my family and friends? Yes.

Having returned from a weeks’ holiday at the AQI Skanes Resort my family and I have thoroughly enjoyed our experience and our stay at the hotel. The staff were all very pleasant and friendly, their service went above and beyond is an amazing reflection of their work ethic. My gratitude to all of the cooking staff / chefs as the food at the buffet was excellent every day and there was enough variety every evening. On top of this there is a beach snack bar for lunch which offers a ‘table service’ which also provided excellent food and the staff there worked tremendously hard serving guests. A special mention to all of the grounds staff who work tirelessly in extreme heat maintaining the hotel and its grounds which are all very well maintained and presented.

The room my family had was spacious enough, clean and tidy. The room was cleaned daily with fresh towels provided daily also. I had the family room which provided a separate sleeping area for kids this an amazing option and I would definitely recommend this room. The only downside is that there is nowhere to hand and dry stuff from the pool and beach. Again, a special thank you to the room keeping staff who work exceptionally hard cleaning the rooms daily.

The hotel boasts a number of pools with bars. There is certainly enough going on to keep everyone entertained. The pool with the waterpark was really good fun and was plentiful to keep all the families entertained, there are also a number of activities which take place under a shaded spot away from the pool. I personally preferred the smaller pool near the hotel gym as it was a lot calmer and less busy this also has a shallow end and a separate shallow pool for children which makes it the perfect spot to relax and play.

The hotel sits right on the beach and the beach is beautiful with white sand and blue water. There is also a bar on the beach which serves drinks to guests and there are plenty of sun loungers. However, this is probably where I have my biggest complaint, the sea actually has jelly fish albeit non-fatal species. They do sting people and it is a daily occurrence nonetheless. There are no signs warning guests of the presence of jelly fish and it’s only if people are stung or you speak to someone who has knowledge you find out. This happened to my Son and I wouldn’t have let him in the water had I known. Many other guests all get stung and it becomes abundantly clear when you consider how few people are in the water given how nice the beach is. My feedback on this issue is that there should be proper signage warning guests that jelly fish are present in the water that way guests can make their own mind up whether they wish to enter the water or not knowing the risks.

In the evenings is a kids mini disco from 20:30 - 21:30 followed by entertainment for everyone. This was another really enjoyable aspect of our stay. I enjoyed the kids mini disco just as much as my Son. Also the subsequent entertainment was always very good and lively. There are two spots for the entertainment and the location does alternate but usually the staff keep you informed during the day of the plans. There is the amphitheater at the hotel or the stage near the pool both spots do fill up quickly so it is wise to be there early and get good seats where you can enjoy a drink or two whilst waiting.

The generally condition of the hotel is good. The main bar and reception are a little bit more modern than the main accommodation blocks but that’s understandable given the desire to create a good first impression. Some of the decor in the accommodation blocks is slightly dated, but it is clean and tidy. I’m not pretentious enough to take an issue with this and I don’t really understand anyone who does so long as the hotel is clean which it is.

Lastly, gratitude to the waiting and bar staff who also work hard. The animation team are also amazing and credit...

4 star Tunisia, English Butlins.

Tui advertise this hotel as AQI Skannes resort on their website, but please be aware that this is called Skannes Family Magic Hotel when you arrive. I had to ask the driver of the transfer bus and the receptionist on arrival if we were dropped to the correct hotel. The pictures that tui use to represent the hotel are not accurate as to what you find when you arrive. The hotel was unrecognisable.

I escalated my concerns to the Tui rep, Amil, who was in the canteen having dinner on the evening of my arrival. But he told me he didn’t work for tui, despite being in the tui uniform and couldn’t help me. I was told to raise my concerns on the tui app after the holiday.

The hotel has a lot of children in the resort, which is fine, but there are no specific children areas, which would have been nice around the pool/ in the restaurant for them, the hotel were also hosting a tennis tournament, so the canteen/ gym was mostly reserved for them. Also not advertised on the tui website.

Achai the male receptionist is very rude, he will have other conversations with staff behind the desk, and once he is finished, that’s when he acknowledges you. We paid extra for a sea view balcony room, don’t bother with this as the sea isn’t close to the hotel. When we reported our balcony door as broken, he challenged us in saying it was fine. We reported to maintenance ourselves who came and broke the lock so we could get out, however the balcony door was open and unlocked the rest of the holiday, luckily there was a safe in the room for small items. The decor of the corridors is quite depressing (as you can see in my images) and this reflected inside the room as well. The spare pillows we were left were also covered in stains.

Nay-mar Calymar and Obama from the animation team are extremely rude. They regularly come around to greet guests and advertise their evening entertainment. I was told by Nay-mar “you will look up from your book, you will smile at me, and you will greet me properly” - if you say you are 2 adults and don’t want to go to the kids shows, they get very defensive and speak to each other, clearly about you, in their own language.

The food is good, but not much variety. You have to que for the food like a canteen, which is fine, but when you are eating buffet food, the plate is cold by the time you get to the table to eat. When you ask for more meat off the grill for example, they say to each other, “see English, never happy” and practically throw your food on your plate.

The bar staff, especially by the pool are friendly, and serve a variety of drinks. And the female cleaners for the pool areas and the rooms are friendly and smiley.

The beach and pool areas are lovely, always manned by security staff, the staff work hard to keep them clean. There’s also a small shop within the hotel if you want souvenirs/ snacks while you are there. The gym was mostly used by the tennis players, on the occasions I did get in, the equipment is mostly rusty, broken and in a...

Just returned from a fantastic week at the Skanes Family Hotel in Tunisia, and what a brilliant first experience of the country it’s been.

We arrived late, just after midnight, and were really impressed that food and drink were still available for us. After a long journey, that small gesture meant a lot and set the tone for the rest of the trip.

The staff here are genuinely outstanding, especially the animation team. They work tirelessly with smiles on their faces, making sure there’s always something fun going on, whether that’s pool games, kids’ activities, or evening shows. Their energy is relentless, and they truly go above and beyond to create a fun and welcoming atmosphere.

Our room was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed, we stayed in one with direct access to a swim-up pool, which was perfect for relaxing as a family.

We also booked a quad biking trip through Ali Baba which, although absolutely filthy with dust and dirt and done in extreme heat, was great fun and a brilliant little adventure off-resort.

A special mention too to the staff who went out of their way to open the Shisha Bar out of hours so we could watch the first Lions Test, top class service that didn’t go unnoticed.

All in all, a great holiday. We loved our first trip to Tunisia, and have no doubt we’ll be back. Thank you to everyone at Skanes Family Hotel for making it such a...

Muss man mögen.

We stayed as a family of 5 this month all inclusive for a week. Overall we had a good time and the package holiday with TUI was good value for money. Overall I would rate the hotel as follows: Service: 5 star as the staff were very friendly and responsive when you directly went to the manager or reception desk. Food: 5 star - great choice and selection of foods. Hotel pools: 5 star - the slides are amazing and the lazy pool next to the beach was our favourite for chilling out. Hotel accommodation: 3 star - this is the part that lets the hotel down - the rooms need more of an upgrade and a full refurb. And we stayed in one of the best rooms which was a duplex room with sea view. MY ONLY MAJOR COMPLAINTS ARE THE A/C BEING TOO WEAK THROUGHOUT THE HOTEL AND THE WIFI IN THE ROOMS AND POOL ALSO WEAK.
