I wrote a review for this hotel in August, but it’s disappeared. My advice for those who expect certain things out of Hilton: LOWER EXPECTATIONS. I don’t know where to begin. When we checked in (all reservations were made over the phone with Hilton), they told me that they couldn’t allow us in the rooms reserved because we had too many people. I never told them what room to put us in- I just said the number of people, and Hilton chose the rooms. Then our rooms had a hoorrrible smell of cigarettes. They put us in rooms with twin sized sleeper sofas (then I had to call multiple times to get them to prepare sleeper beds), and they said our four kids were intended to share the two twin sized sleeper sofas. The receptionist asked me to come to the lobby to discuss the issue. We went down together and she went to the back. After about ten minutes I asked about her, and they said she had gone to dinner. Really the worst part of the experience was that I kept trying to talk to a manager, but they were ALL on vacation. Then one of the managers lied to Hilton Central and said that they spoke with me and worked everything out. Just a complete lie. When I told Hilton that no one ever called or spoke with me at all, they just kind of shrugged and offered some points. It was also 110 degrees outside, but the air conditioning in the main spaces was off the whole time. When we asked employees about it, we got different stories, but they did all...
Read moreLoved the hospitality of service personnel, but the place looks forgotten. Some breakfast foods seemed a bit not very fresh. Eggs yolk rims were green you know (this ocurred to me only once) breads were sometimes like leftovers from yesterday. My bed was not very comfy. Mid part was a pit. Shower head was not staying in place. Air condition was keeping the room temp at 20 degree colds, while set to 27 degrees. It has to be repaired. No one in the reception at 6.00 AM when I had to leave fast to catch a plane. They didn't remember to count my extras.:) That may be a plus if only they hadn't called and asked me about it. Mardin is severely spoilt and the hotel seems to take its share. It is so sad that the streets of such an exceptional city are dirty, everywhere is filled with garbage. This hotel was at least clean enough to stay in, and most likely the only clean hotel you can find around. The management can improve the hotel with...
Read moreAt first glance, the room seemed to live up to the Hilton standard. Room and bathroom were clean, spacious with comfortable beds. However, the temperature in the room was 29°C (this was at the end of December) when we arrived and did not drop even after opening the windows for hours. This was supposedly due to the central heating system. My daughters experienced the same in their room, as did other guests I heard complaining at reception. It was impossible to sleep with these temperatures. No attempts were made to offer different rooms to us which leads to the conclusion that the entire hotel was overheated.|This Hilton certainly did not live up to its standards, and I will think twice before booking with this...
