The first purpose-built hotel on the island holds prime position overlooking the harbour and across to the castle. The place looks a little weather beaten but the guest rooms have been tastefully renovated such that they make the most of the limits imposed by a 1960s building. There are some shortcomings but the advantages well outweigh them. || ||The good: Every room has a view to die for with the second floor rooms having the bonus of a balcony from which to ogle the outlook. Clean, restrained Aegean-modern décor with reasonably spacious guest rooms. The bathrooms are tasteful and complete if a little confined. Large, comfortable beds. Helpful and friendly staff although competent English is limited to the front desk. The included wifi worked OK on all our devices. Free parking right outside the hotel in a town where parking is at a premium. Everywhere in town is within an easy walk. The included breakfast is an exceptional table d'hôte Turkish repast that would satiate the most discerning epicure - served alfresco in a courtyard overlooking the harbour. C'est magnifique!||||The not so good: as most of the town’s streets are pedestrian only it’s a hard place to navigate to by car even though it’s plainly visible from the ferry wharf. There is no in-room safe. No in-room tea-making equipment but they’ll happily supply the necessities if asked. The guestroom drapes are sheer which means the rooms are light and bright early in the morning – bring an eye-mask if that bothers you. The hanging and storage space is limited but adequate. ||||The annoying: both of the shower heads (fixed and hand-held) had the irritating habit of spraying water into every part of the shower stall except where you were standing and if by chance you got into the line of fire it wet every part of your body except that you were washing. Not content to have the shower hog the limelight, the toilet cistern needed a concert pianist’s touch on the buttons to flush without continually running. Whatever, this is Turkish plumbing, just take a deep breath, soak up that magnificent vista and contemplate tomorrow’s...
Read moreYes, the hotel is clearly visible as soon as the Boat reaches the shore in Bozcaada. However, we had luggage with us and could not walk upto it and there is no bus or shuttle service. We had to take a cab, both the ways--while going and leaving from the Hotel. ||The rooms were nice (though we could not get those with a balcony) and clean and spacious, with excellent view of the harbour. There was a mini refrigerator and tea/coffee facility in the room. The restaurants/market and the bus stop and even the castle and the pier were all at a walking distance.||Unfortunately, the AC was not working and did not work for the next two days. Yes, the windows provided ample breeze and guess, that is why the attitude was casual and its repair was not urgently looked into. It was also Eid and holiday time. We were given a fan for two nights, on request.||The Hotel also has some serious plumbing issues, which were fortunately attended to promptly. ||The owner/host-- Allara was quite helpful and pleasant a person. She guided us as best as she could about what could we do on the island. The other staff was polite and smiling too, though not conversant in English.||The breakfast was a nice spread and...
Read moreThe hotel is nicely located, overlooking the sea and the port. It is a bit of a climb up hill but once you arrive, the climb is quickly forgotten. The staff seem genuinely warm, cautious and polite their service is basic, not much to complain about.||||My room was nice, spacious and bright with a window that faces the sea. I have to compliment the minibar, the prices of drinks were not ridiculous. The bathroom was small but that was not much of a problem given the nice bedroom and comfortable bed.||||Breakfast was fixed but really nice. I was particularly intrigued by the selection of local jams that were served. Everything that was served was tasty and fresh. Anything more was at extra cost but I happily paid.||||The one complain I have is the strong smell of cigarette that filled the room each time I switched on the air conditioning. Besides this, I enjoyed my stay here. I would recommend it to...
