Upon arrival we were grunted (and I mean grunted) by a horrible man behind the reception with two words “booking reference”. He used a translator app to speak to us throughout our check in. At first I struggled to find the booking reference and he refused to look for our booking using my passport, which has been enough for other hotels we’ve used. He wrote ‘no reference no check in’ in his app and pushed it in front of me. I eventually found it and when I gave it him he wrote ‘no reservation’ and ‘sorry hotel full’ after 25 minutes of ‘talking’ both of us using apps, he finally made a phone call, them moved to another computer. After 10 minutes he spoke saying “sorry it’s that computer, it’s wrong your booking is on this one”. We checked in, paid and was escorted with our suitcases by a man I thought was someone who had wondered in off the street. He took us to our first floor room and persisted to wait in the room until we tipped him. I call it a room it wasn’t absolutely disgusting. Noisy, dirty, many items broken, stains, dirty toilet and bath, fortunately the bedding was clean. We had just endured an 8 hour coach trip and was hungry and needed a drink to unwind, so we went in the lovely bar attached to the hotel (privately owned) Prior to going down there we looked out of the window to discover our room overlooked 4 lanes of traffic and we were eye level with the metro link which ran each way every 4 minutes and was very very noisy. Whilst in the bar/restaurant I looked on an app to see if there were any rooms available at the hotel so I could request being moved, there was the choice for me to book 4 rooms for a maximum 8 adults. So I went back to the very unhelpful‘receptionist’ and asked, using the translator app, if we could change rooms to one at the back, as ours was very noisy. To which he shouted “No, hotel full”. I wasn’t going to try and attempt to show him that there were rooms available and ‘slept’ using ear plugs. It was the most horrible place I have ever stayed in, thank God it was only for one night. Avoid this 4 star dump...
Read moreWhere do I start...😠 well no one really spoke any English which made things extremely difficult..the breakfast was really bad, the swimming pool was dirty, and had plastic and bits floating inside, the staff for the pool and spa area were so rude especially the man at the desk with the glasses he was so unhelp disrespectful and angry, he made us feel such bother, as he also completely ignored us to speak those who were of his nationality. THERES MORE...The bathroom smelt of urine, the sheets were not clean, AND TO TOP IT OFF...we saw a COCKROACH in our bathroom the night before we were leaving, if we did not demand to move room they would of happily left us in there, anything you ask for takes ages for a response!! The staff are so unhelpful and rude. (Not all) We asked for the cleaner to clean our room on the third night and sadly she just throw the same dirty towels on the side, had the ordasity to turn the same quilt cover insideout and make our beds, unbelievable, This really spoiled our time in istanbul as we tried to do things to avoid going back to the hotel. The decor and fixtures and fittings are tired, shower just about clinging to the wall, I promise I am in no way exaggerating this has to be the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I couldn't wait to get back to my home. This hotel should definitely not be 4 stars, it looks great from outside, but once inside it is a totally different story, the Grand S Hotel is very far from grand. It is an insult to 4 star hotels. I'm absolutely livid. Please avoid by all means. The photos are not a true likeness of the this hotel, do...
Read moreThe hotel is situated on a highway, if youve never been tona muslim country before they blast their prayer music at 5:30 am and the traffic gets louder after that point, its still continous throughout the night. They claimed to offer free breakfast but the kitchen manager told me he works late and often doesn't unlock The doors until 1 pm, so breakfast never happened for me during my stay. Their transport for the hair transplant surgery was the only 5 star service they offered. For people going for a hair transplant, they dont have chairs in their room and mention that bleeding on the bed will come with extra charges. In general if your going for a hair transplant expect pain, expect the beds here to not be comfortable enough to sleep on, and don't expect to eat without paying whatever they feel like charging you that meal.
On a lesser note, they also use motion detection lights, which i understand to reduce electricity consumption, it makes it feel like a run down hotel though, it should be continuous. I don't believe in giving one star unless it should be shut down, but it was by far my worst hotel experience, nevermind the terrible service at the clinic. I'm writing this review now since he's claiming they offer breakfast online, in person the doors are locked at...
