I stayed here in April with my father as part of a tour group as we were going to Gallipoli for the 100th Anniversary of Anzac. When we arrived, check in was very lengthy...don't think they are used to checking in such large groups all at once. Reception area was quite small to fit 40+ of us with large suitcases. Once we finally got our rooms they wanted to hold our passports which I did not feel comfortable with, so I asked if I could leave a copy of it which they were quite hesitant about but eventually agreed. We got given a room on the 4th floor (top floor). The elevator is small & only fits 2 people with a suitcase each, nothing more. If you don't have luggage it can fit a maximum of 4 people. There is the option of stairs if you feel athletic. The room we were given was TINY for 2 people. 2 single beds with next to no where to put suitcases and a tiny bathroom. The shower was actually broken & we had to call reception to fix it later that night. The bathroom seemed unclean. There was a balcony...but it was fairly awkward stepping onto it at night as there was a school in the building right next door. The door was a little concerning as it didn't automatically lock when you shut it...you had to remember to lock it with your key from both the inside & outside. What was also concerning was the fact the lights in the corridors & on the stairs were on timers & flickered on & off non stop even when you were walking down the stairs etc which became a safety hazard. The breakfast was disappointing, only continental-cereals, breads, boiled eggs. There was only the option of 2 cereals though so I mainly had to eat toast for breakfast which barely filled me. The location of the hotel was great, right in the middle of town-close to restaurants & convenience stores. The staff were fairly friendly, some more than others. The free wifi was fairly fast. Overall, the hotel was good for it's location and what we needed for our stay but there are things they could...
Read moreThe Oya has an excellent location downtown near the ferry terminal and all the shops and restaurants. The rooms are spotlessly clean. They have round the clock hot water, a good heating system (for winter), fast wifi, a good buffet breakfast, very nice bathroom. The only small fault I found was that the single rooms face a wall. Light comes into the room, so it is not claustrophobic, but there isnt any view. The double and twin rooms all have a window facing outside. During the off season, I paid 70 TL for a single room. I was quite pleased with the cleanliness and professionalism of the hotel. ...
Read moreRoom appeared unclean. No tea making facilities or bedside tables/lamps. Balcony door could not be locked. Main door had to be locked and unlocked using the key. The elevator appeared to work only on some occassions. The room key from another room opened another rooms locked door. The breakfast showed very little choice and was of poor quality. Parking was minimal. The location was perfect in thecentre of town and close to great seafood restaurants...
