Inviting DJs and placing them on a massive stage by the beach does not make you a party hotel, dare I say.
Looking for an adult-only hotel with a pool, bars, and fun activities, my best friend (21) and I (20) chose Sunthalia. We packed expecting a fun, lively place with parties, energetic animators, good drinks (Starbucks!!!) and a great vibe. Unfortunately, the most fun we had was chilling at the lobby bar and terrace after midnight. Sharing me thoughts after a week there: No A/C at the reception. Our room for two was small. With two single beds and suitcases on the floor, there was barely space to walk. Cleaning was not it. Rubbish bin and sheets were changed, but towels might not have been. The mirror stayed dirty the whole trip, an empty bottle was under the bed on arrival, and the minibar wasn’t refilled quite a few times.
The pool area was okay. Always found an empty sunbed, and staff was helpful. Sunbeds in the water were a cool touch. The slides were surprisingly fun! The water sometimes seemed cold, even in 35°C heat. We shivered after the pool party and found the sea warmer.
Speaking of the beach - no complaints. Regular shuttle, clean sandy beach, good restaurant, palm trees, nice area. Watersports were pricey (50€ for 15 mins jet ski), but if that's okay for you, off you go.
You only get one free Starbucks drink for a 7-night stay - not unlimited like we expected. Otherwise, it’s full price. There’s also a smoothie bar, but again, you have to pay. Asking for an iced coffee at the bar will get you milk with a sad espresso shot from a bad machine. As regular coffee drinkers, that hurt.
As a picky eater, the food was alright. We slept through most breakfasts (07:00–11:00), and the one we caught didn’t feel worth waking up for. Lunch at the buffet (12:30–14:30) was okay, but we liked the poolside snack bar better - surprisingly good Italian menu (pizzas, pastas, salads). Same for the beach bar. Oddly, the pool bar didn’t have pasta Alfredo or fries, my two favourites from the menu.
Dinner was more varied with decent meat and fish options. Overall, basic all-inclusive experience. P.S. We only found out about the a la carte steak/fish restaurants after we got home. No one told us.
The smoothie/hookah bar near the theater was confusing. Paying extra for a smoothie? I could take some fruits and milk from the restaurant and make the same smoothie you're offering me for 3 euros. The hookah saved the situation. If we ignore the 20 euro price, we loved it. Smooth, flavourful, and the staff consistently took care of it.
Drinks overall were bad. Up to ugly plastic cups. And yes, we’ve experienced all-inclusive drinks before.
Animators were disappointing. Same 3–4 people daily, looking tired and unbothered. They didn’t interact with us once, and their smiles vanished the second they turned away. You should have seen them during the evening events. It was either the most unhappy, unsatisfied person, the sleepy, yawning one, or the unwillingly smiling and dancing one.
Thanks for the club invites, though! Nox night was amazing. Liman? Too crowded, we could barely find a space to stand.
Hotel activities were underwhelming. We hoped for a modern party vibe. But were slapped in the face with darts battles and rope skipping challenges.
Foam parties with DJs were fun. If only there was more stuff like this. DJ beach sets saved our evenings - dancing, making friends, chatting until midnight. Afterwards, everyone gathered at the only 24/7 lobby bar and terrace.
The residents? A mix of young adults and middle aged people. Russians, Germans, Turkish, Brits.
Bazaars nearby are worth legit. You could really find anything you need.
Obviously, the company makes the trip. We had a great time despite the issues. If you’re looking to tan, relax and do nothing, this hotel works. If you want fun and parties, you can do better.

Read moreWe stayed here and today is our last day at Sunthalia Hotel. Unfortunately, our experience does not match the promised 5-star standard.||First of all, a 5-star hotel should at least provide basic amenities such as bathrobes, shaving kits, and shower gel. None of these were available. Alcoholic drinks are watered down, and the bottles are already opened and diluted.
