We chose this hotel based on the reviews but I am afraid the reviews did not live up to anything they suggested. Before I delve into the detail, this hotel has so much potential; the building is beautiful and has rustic charm and the location, albeit a 30min walk to Icmeler it is ideal if you want a quiet stay.||I will try to be short but to the point. Upon arrival which was late, we were greeted by a young chap who asked our names and gave us our card - zero fuss, but zero welcome! We asked if there was food, and we were told go to the bar - who then said we are closed go to Tommys over the road (which we did and that place was a god send throughout the stay). But the atmosphere on arrival was not one that I have ever experienced in nearly 4 decades of worldwide travel - it was bizarre and almost like we shouldn't have been there.||We then went to our room which was a Country Suite. Upon entering the room there was the most pungent smell of something similar to sewerage - seemed like it was coming through the air con unit. The room was tired although clean in appearance and the bathroom tiny, with a huge wasted open space that offered not much - but you could easily get another wardrobe in there, as the tiny one on offer with 5 hangers didn't cut it! The first night we didn't bother unpacking as we wanted to move rooms, and the smell kept us awake most of the night and feeling rough the next morning. We reported the smell to the manager where she made us feel like we were over reacting - we weren't, it was a health hazard - she was rude. After waiting 24hours we were moved to another room which was better, with the smell not as bad but infrequent. The manager hardly acknowledged our presence after this experience. This room again was tired with tiles in the shower coming away from the wall. The room was only cleaned upon request which meant running out of toilet roll and not having clean towels regularly. They only give you one room card per couple - not sure why but this was unhelpful. We didn't ask for another based on the room change saga! ||Breakfast????? Well, if you can call it that. Scrambled egg, mushrooms, toast, fruit etc was average at best, made even better with flies and cats roaming and having to clean your own table, to get a table, as there aren't enough to guest ratio. Every morning having to ask for plates, milk, teabags - I could go on. ||As previously mentioned, the building itself is beautiful with some real charm - but it's tired, and needs much attention. It would need to be closed for a season to put it right - its potential is vast. The pool area could be so much nicer but has very much like a jungle feel to it with tiny pockets of sunlight; the rest is covered by foliage and broken sunbeds.||The staff are not attentive and seems that they were not being managed or guided properly. I came to the conclusion that the management is where this hotel is likely failing because the previous reviews are amazing - but I believe the management has changed recently.||This hotel is listed as a 4 star on Jet2 who we booked with - I would give this a 2 Star rating at best but it could actually...
Read moreWe only got back from Petunya Konak this morning, and we're already looking to return next year. We never go back to the same place twice as there are so many others to go and explore, but this hotel, in such a chilled place as Icmeler, was just so utterly lovely and relaxing, a proper "step out of time"!||We were in 2C, a Junior Suite, and it was lovely. The bed was comfortable, the bedding and towels were spotless and there was plenty of storage space. The shower was brilliant, really powerful. We did have an issue with the hairdryer but reported it straight away and were given a new one, so no problem there.||The outdoor pool area is gorgeous. It's a small hotel and very quiet, and there were always sunbeds available. One half of the pool is in shade until lunchtime but in the heat of the Turkish sun, that was really helpful! There are spare beach towels hanging up, and a bookcase where you can swap your holiday reads, plus a couple of chess sets etc. ||Breakfast was really good. There was lots of cheese, fruit, pastries, cereals and cakes etc and there was always a variety of hot items too. I loved the omelettes that were freshly prepared if you asked....a cheese and mushroom omelette, followed by watermelon, apricots, melon and feta cheese set me up for the day. My husband methodically tried everything else each day and declared it delicious!|The tables were by the pool area, it was so peaceful.||The hotel isn't in the centre of town, it's about a 15-20 minute walk in but we used the dolmus to get about as it was much too hot to do a lot of walking in the middle of the day (42° while we were there!)|They are ace to use, you can catch one from Tommy's bar across the road from the hotel and they'll take you anywhere for 40tl, so easy to use and they run about every ten minutes.||Have got to mention all the staff though, they absolutely make this hotel as good as it is. They are all so warm and friendly, and easy to have a laugh with, they totally deserve recognition for all their efforts.|I had a spa session with Tash, and it was incredible, that girl really knows what she's doing! I felt like I was floating afterwards and my skin was amazing....thankyou, Tash!||I'm beginning to wish I hadn't written this review in case the hotel gets inundated with bookings and we can't get in again next year!! |If you want a little piece of paradise, then this is the place....can't recommend...
Read moreWhat to say the place is a farce. The receptionist is a pure joke he is pig ignorant, arrogant and looks at all guests with the utmost contempt. He arrives late and goes straight to the guest breakfast bar where he tucks in to the meagre offerings put out before the guests have chance to eat. He then spends the day on facebook on the reception desktop before going home at least 3 hours before his shift ends. We had a balcony room overlooking the pool which i am sure the cleaner enjoyed for the 30 mins she spent in there everyday as we were changing our own bedding and towels. We were there 11 days and we only made 1 request to the chef, which was to make pancakes and to our suprise he couldnt and didn't want to make them. Out of the whole team of staff only 1 member was outstanding and took the utmost pride in his work. He was continually doing portering waiting tables running the bar and reception whilst dealing with the continual complaints from most of the guests. PHATTE you are an amazing hard working employee and in all my years of travelling around the world have never ever seen a hotel run by one single person. You are an asset to the turkish hospitality sector. As for the hotel being boutique this is a complete misrepresentation it is more BOOTCAMP. The interior finishings are cheap and badly installed or constructed it does not look like the online photos on the website there are stains on the window nets and a pupae on our curtains. I would not recommend this...
