I stayed here three nights as an alternative hotel, as the one I booked originally, the Büyükada Port Hotel, had gas leak problems and could not accommodate me. They found me this hotel instead. The Çankaya hotel was nice enough to accommodate me, which I appreciated. |The Çankaya Hotel has its good and bad. First the good. The room was very big. I had a sea view room with balcony. The rooms were nicely decorated. Love the tiles. And there was a jacuzzi in the room! That was a plus. To take a jacuzzi bath while watching the sunset. The hotel is a five minute walk to the ferry port and all the hotels and shops there. |Now the not so good parts. The reception people were cordial and polite but not particularly friendly. The cats that greeted me every morning at the exit were much more welcoming, especially the beautiful calico cat. This hotel does not automatically clean your room every day. You must ask them to clean the room in the morning and leave the key with them, otherwise they won’t clean it. There are also no elevators. You have to climb the stairs with your suitcases, and NO porters to help you. If you’re elderly or have a lot of baggage, not ideal. And the breakfast. It was really too basic. Same thing every day: cheese, olives, tomatoes, cucumber, bread and one (only one per person) boiled egg. Coffee was instant Nescafé. I suppose it’s because I was there off season that the breakfast was so boring? If I come again, I think I’ll try a...
Read moreMe and my gf stayed at this hotel early September. The hotel is located on the main street (Çankaya st), which has good points (close to the center/harbor) and bad points (very noisy during daytime due to thousands of Turkish and foreign tourists walking, riding bicycles and taking the famous horse rides (which I would personally call animal cruelty as the horses are underfed and overused - I would not support that business). We changed our room to a bigger and more expensive one they offered with the same price, because the unprofessionally installed shower cabin was leaking. The second room was bigger, however the wifi was not working, neither was the TV and moreover the shower cabin was also leaking. In both rooms there was a minibar, which was not working!!! We asked someone to check the TV and minibar, but he could not fix the problems and claimed the wifi issue has to do with our computers and telephones as "nobody else has complained". The second room had a nice balcony and the bed was comfortable. The walls of the hotel need re-painting and so do the rooms. Breakfast is not a buffet but a fixed Turkish plate, which was ok for us. Anyway, as we do not care about TV or wifi during holiday, we enjoyed our stay. But this "hotel" could only be...
Read moreIt was a snowy night, me and my friend wanted some adventure so we decided to go there, I was not expecting much actually but it was higher than my expectation, they offered a very good price. very helpful staff , I called them several times to check on the heater, they came just directly when I called. I asked for food they provided a list of close restaurants that can do delivery during the storm. In the morning I went for the breakfast, they could put more kinds of cheese and other stuff, but the ones that is already there now is all top quality. I am a foodie and breakfast for me is a huge matter, that is why I can their breakfast was good I can rate it as 7.5 , I am sure when the weather is better food will be much better, especially now it is low season and they are not working in a full capacity.
For the Island trip, you should be very well prepared for it in winter since it is extremely cold. hotel was hot enough for me , but outside was kind of cold actually. When you walk in the islands, try to check history of the architecture of the building around, cause each one has...
