Unfortunately I can't recommend this Konak for tall people or light sleepers...
The location is nice, as is the terrace. The whole place is very old and has a rustic and old school homely quality which is nice. The staff are nice and gave us a welcome coffee and tea (though the coffee was bad and I don't recommend it)
We really adored Sirince town.
However, the room here was not very clean, has a salt damp/musty smell, stains on the walls and and sheet, peeling paint and a leaky bathroom. Shower also has limited hot water...about enough for two short showers, split between however many rooms there are...so cold shower was common. Also if you are tall, you will have big problems here as I did, and I left today with a concussion from the low door...about 5foot high.
These things I can put up with, as I have travelled around 50 countries and am used to old style accommodation, but the fact is that there is no noise insulation at all for the old house, so it is absolutely impossible to have a good night sleep, which is mandatory for travellers. We stayed 4 nights in the ground floor room and there was constant noise at sleeping times from above and outside, as you can hear every word, footstep and toilet flush..... Worst way to be woken was by the couple above having sex... So there is zero privacy for noise. It's quite noisy from people entering and walking past as the room is at the entry point, so often there are people talking loudly just outside the door. Ear plugs did NOT help.
We left absolutely drained and exhausted from sleep deprivation, so I can't recommend more than maybe one night here, and only then if you can sleep through the apocalypse.
Ultimately a bit expensive for all the negatives. Hosts need to reinvest in the rooms to bring this up to a reasonable quality.... Doesn't need to be 5 star, but some salt damp treatment and a bit better clean, some thick carpets upstairs to insulate the wooden floors, and some insulated windows are easy fixes for a more comfortable stay.
Re: owner reply, we understand this is not 5 star, this review is only to advise fellow travellers, so they can make educated decisions on their best holidays. Please do not take this as being purposely negative.... I did say...
Read moreI stayed at Mystic Konak with my family for one night during our trip to Turkey. While the village of Şirince is charming and picturesque, the guesthouse itself was disappointing.
The building is old, which could be charming, but unfortunately, it’s not well-maintained. Our room felt damp, and the humidity made it seem less clean and comfortable. There was no hot water available for showers. There was a kettle provided, but no cups or any welcome amenities like tea or coffee, which are usually standard in Turkish accommodations.
There was a shared terrace available for guests, which was a nice touch. The lady at the property was very friendly, but communication was difficult as she didn’t speak English.
On a positive note, the breakfast was good, featuring fresh and local...
Read moreowner is a perfect lady; you are enjoying a big cup of country life in an original enviroment; strongly recommend to stay there if you are in sirince and if you want to stay in an original country house together with a local family from sirince and i may say that do not pay attn to negative comments because i believe they are expecting 4 or 5 star hotel service but this facility can not give this; you may have a clean room ( not fancy ) hot water anytime you want; free wifi and silence & calmness at a 2 steps distance to the center of...
