Overall Experience|When we arrived at the resort, I was cautiously optimistic. Some earlier reviews had me worried, but I hoped to be pleasantly surprised. Overall, I would not rate this as a true luxury/5-star resort. It feels like a very good four-star resort that’s just missing a few key elements to justify a five-star or luxury rating.||Positives|• Beautiful beach with plenty of palapas|• Main restaurant buffet is very good|• Entertainment is varied and high quality|• Large pool with enough loungers|• Very nice spa/massages|• Spacious rooms|• Friendly, helpful staff||Negatives|• Interior of the hotel is extremely dark|• Housekeeping and maintenance lack attention to detail|• Beach food and bar service is slow and limited|• Most top-shelf liquors are only available at the lobby bar|• Specialty fish restaurant is too close to the loud nightly entertainment|• Shops sell and advertise knock-off brand names||Arrival & First Impressions|Check-in was unusual but pleasant — they seat you in the lobby bar instead of making you stand in a line. We were offered drinks during the process, which was a nice touch. The lobby bar itself is gorgeous, and we ended up spending most evenings there after dinner and entertainment enjoying tea, drinks, and snacks.||Construction|Some reviews are vague about construction, so to be clear: yes, there is a major resort being built next door (west side) as of September 2025. From our room we could see both the sea and the construction, but it didn’t ruin the view. The noise and dust were minimal and did not bother us. My understanding is that major construction pauses during the peak summer season.||Rooms & Comfort|Bell staff were great — they delivered our bags, showed us around the room, and the minibar was refilled almost daily. The biggest downside was that the room was very hot when we arrived (around 28°C). It took almost two days to cool to a comfortable 23°C because everything — walls, furniture, air — started off so warm. It would be nice if rooms were pre-cooled on arrival days in hot weather.|Air conditioning worked well after that, and the climate was pleasant for the rest of the stay. Some common areas inside the hotel are not well air-conditioned, which may be by design since many doors and windows are open.||Beach & Pool|The beach is absolutely beautiful. The walk from the lobby to the beach is lovely — you pass the pool (always loungers available while we were there), a bar where you can grab drinks, cold water, or ice cream, and the outdoor lunch spot.|Lunch by the beach was consistently excellent, with fresh fruit, grilled fish, meats (doner, köfte, kebab), soups, desserts, and a salad bar.|The only frustration is the usual chair-reservation game — guests put towels on chairs very early and don’t show up for hours. This is common at resorts in this region, but if you want a prime spot, be ready to claim it early (6:30–7:00 a.m.).||Spa & Massage|The resort’s spa is a real highlight. It includes a Turkish bath and an excellent massage team. Nearly everyone in our group booked at least one massage, and we all left feeling completely relaxed — as if we were floating on air.||Where Selectum Could Improve|1. Lighting – The resort is too dark. Older members of our group struggled to see, and even I sometimes felt like I needed a flashlight. The dark décor combined with dim lighting made the interior feel gloomy.|2. Housekeeping & Maintenance – For a five-star property, details should be consistent and automatic. Soap dispensers should always be filled, minibars stocked, coffee cups present, and grout cleaned regularly. Maintenance issues such as loose towel racks, broken bulbs, or non-functioning water park rides (the lazy river was closed during our stay) should be addressed quickly. A strict daily checklist and management walkthrough would make a big difference.|3. Design Issues – The shower door opens only inward, so you get wet just turning it on. The shower also has only a rain shower option, with no handheld or standard shower available — not ideal if you don’t want to wash your hair.|4. Restaurant Placement – The beachside fish restaurant is a nice concept but is located directly next to the nightly entertainment. Once the music starts, you can’t hear yourself talk and any romantic atmosphere is lost.|5. Knockoff Brands in the Shops – The ground-floor shops appear to sell (and advertise) counterfeit luxury brands. This cheapens the hotel’s image and makes guests question whether the premium brands advertised in the restaurants and bars are actually used. The hotel should address this immediately to protect its luxury positioning.|__|Final Verdict|Selectum has a lot going for it — a fantastic beach, good food, friendly staff — but it needs some refinements to truly earn a five-star reputation. With so much competition in Antalya, I would look at other options at this price point unless they make these...
Read more1.The hotel is advertising with a large pier with sunbeds. In real life it's under construction and closed for guests. You need to listen to drilling while being on the beach. Half of the beach is also closed resulting in no sunbeds available if you go outside after 11.In addition, while taking a walk on a beach we found a desk with sharp nails in the water, so the construction works can be dangerous to the guests.Hotel's responding to other opinions that the pier will be ready for summer-we were told that the outside pool is not heated anymore because it's summer already. The pool was very cold and only few people were brave enough to swim.Outside sunbeds are dirty and should be replaced. 2.Upon arrival the concierge encouraged us to book a table in al la carte restaurants. The first problem was the sushi place is permanently closed. When we wanted to book a table in steakhouse 2days in advance,we got an info that booking is possible only 1day in advance. When we repeated our request the next day,we heard that all restaurants are fully booked for the next week. We gave up on the steakhouse and went outside the hotel for this occasion. We checked if booking Italian restaurant is possible-yes it is. Ok,so please book a table-sorry,restaurant is closed.Meanwhile,we were passing by the Italian restaurant everyday and it was not even half full. 3.There are no info visible in the hotel nor available in the room.Every question or info needs to be requested with a concierge on Whatsapp. It's annoying,we are not going on holiday to use our phones all the time. At least a simple map of the hotel should be available in the room. If you want it to be digital, invest in an app so the guests can book tables or get any info by themselves with no need to wait for the concierge to reply. 4.The housekeeping staff was waking us up in the morning with knocking or even entering the room despite "do not disturb" sign hanging on the door. It's ridiculous, especially with the fact that the bathrooms in the rooms don't have door,so if someone opens the room door, a person taking a bath in a bathtub is exposed to the hotel corridor. 5.There are different working hours for each part of the hotel, but a few times we experienced their closing anyway. E.g. waffles 9-16,we went there 15:55,it was closed. Patisserie 10-19,we went 10:30,it was closed, the staff was there but we were told to wait until11.Game room 11-24,we went at 12,closed door. 6.There are no cold beverages in the main restaurant, all drinks should be served by waiters. It happened multiple times that we ate our meal, sat there for 40 mins and nobody approached our table, so we didn't drink anything. Same long waiting time is at the bar or pool (30 mins for a drink). 7.Internet connection is not available in all parts of the hotel, e.g.it works fine on the beach, but no reception at all at the main pool. 8.There is a cage(?)with cats near the spa area outside. There are 10+cats closed all the time in a cage approx.2x5metres.It would be not allowed in any developed country caring about animal rights. I don't know of they are there for children's entertainment but anyways it should not be there. 9.The rooms condition doesn't suit 5*standard - there are wholes in the walls, rain shower looks like it wasn't cleaned for months (spraying water in every direction), the handle in the bathtub is very unstable, windows are leaky and it's very loud when it's windy. We had room service everyday but the floor wasn't vacuumed. Carpets on corridors are also dirty and look like not vacuumed. 10.The elevators are small-hardly fitting 4 people comfortably (without luggage). It's hard to catch the elevator and we mostly used stairs. It wasn't an issue since our room was on 1st floor but I can't imagine not being able to catch an elevator while living on 3+ floor. 11.The room design is dark, windows are covered by heavy, barely moving curtains. It took time and strength to let some sunshine inside the room in the morning.Same with the wardrobe-no doors, only heavy curtains and it was...
Read moreHilal at check in was not the friendliest guest relations and also took our passports to process? This has never happened where our passports weren’t immediately returned to us so this did not feel safe.
The grounds are huge but only 1 outdoor pool and the indoor pool are being used from what we observed. Only 1 sauna out of 2 is in use. One great thing was that there wasn’t as much grit and sand in the pool because they have showers around the pool. Another great thing is no one is being told to leave the pool at 6-7pm or being disturbed by staff to leave.
The room was spacious and every night our linen was changed. However the toilet seat was flimsy and kept making loud noises also it was square so dug into our legs every time we used it. One day when we got back to our room which had been cleaned it reeked of cigarette smell!!! This is unacceptable for a 5 star resort. Our soaps were not being filled up daily too and even upon check in weren’t full. The bed was stiff and not comfortable and the overall decor is very outdated but the rooms are spacious. One awful thing is that the bathroom has no door! The toilet door has a huge gap where anyone outside can see you do your business and the shower room has a door but it is very difficult to get inside and close the door as there is hardly any space to turn inside. The shower did not have a handheld attachment so it was inconvenient. Our room was advertised as having a jacuzzi in the bathroom - it did not - it had a regular sized bath tub with jets. The balcony was spacious but overlooked the bins and staff rest area. The balcony had space to hang wet clothes which saved us a lot.
There were many spaces and extra areas of the hotel that were not being used and it felt like an abandoned ghost town. The public toilets in the building were dirty and very very dimly lit so you could hardly see anything inside the cubicle. Furthermore, on one floor the toilet lights were completely switched off so I had to use the only other option - the disabled toilets.
The entertainment was geared towards the Russian guests. There was hardly anything on that families or other customers could enjoy.
The staff at the main bar in the lobby were unprofessional. The bartender made us 4 cocktails and didn’t get one right. When we went to the bar to explain what we wanted and which drinks he forgot the main ingredient once. And on another occasion when we asked for a specific brand of alcohol which they had and was all inclusive he cheekily said “you wont even notice the difference of this knock off brand”. Excuse me, but yes I will notice a difference and I am a paying customer - I am specifically asking for a drink, which you have and you are refusing to serve it to me - whyyyy? The waitresses were gossiping about one another to us as customers and we frequently had to go get our own orders as our table was not waited on.
We were sat by the cafe (right next to the lobby) and we were told by Ozlem that we couldnt play backgammon inside and to go to the terrace. We were forced to play outside where everyone was smoking and ants crawled into our drinks however we noticed as we got inside another couple were playing inside!!! This was clearly discrimination. When we messaged our guest relation about this they did nothing. To top it off the following day Hilal also told us to move elsewhere and moved us to the Italian restaurant (again right next to the lobby). This time we questioned why we were being made to move and she said thats the rule it makes too much noise - moving one table to the left doesn’t eradicate noise. We were made to move out of sight and again our table was not waited upon.
The buffet food was ok but lacked variety. The staff member standing by the entrance at the salami counter was munching away at food whilst customers were trying to get their food another staff was drinking tea at the same counter. At the 24/7 restaurant staff were taking food behind a blue divider (photo) and gossiping about one another about...
