The staff here are amazing and really make you feel welcome and special. Barbara, the manager, was so kind to us during our 2 nights.
Our cottage was a round structure with traditional woven roof. There is no AC and it was a bit stuffy at night. It would have been good to be able to leave doors or windows open to get a breeze. There is a mosquito net around the bed and the staff comes every night to let it down and do a turndown service. The cottage was clean, but there is always the possibility of bugs getting in as you are right next to national park. There was electricity 24/7, but the lights would randomly dim and then come back on. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom had a tub and separate shower. Water pressure was not very good and the water didn't get super hot and the hot and cold water didn't really mix well. There are soap and towels provided. The towels were so fluffy!
There is wifi in the main dining area and it worked well. Cell service in the room was hit or miss (and no wifi at all in the cottages). Unfortunately, they shut down the wifi in the evening.
The food at the lodge was great. Barbara went above and beyond and created a lunch of local dishes just for us. Breakfast had hot meats (sausage/bacon) and made-to-order eggs. Always fresh fruit available.
The lodge was about a 15-20 minute drive from the national park.
overall, I would recommend this...
Read moreStayed over for 2 nights with friends. First of all, theocratic of this lodge is ideal! Perched on the edge of a ridge overlooking the Kyambura side of Queen Elizabeth National park, you get a breath taking iew of the sunset while chilling in a swimming pool.
The room I stayed in was L'Edward- big, soft, clean, quiet, well aerated and with hot water! I got the complimentary toothbrush, lotion, tooth paste in good quality.
The food was prepared a la carte. The staff were friendly, helpful and extremely polite. Clearly the management put careful thought into what they wanted the place to be like.
The lodge is located just 1km from the Ishaka-Mbarara highway and offers a smooth transition into the wild. Cost? There are things you get value for. Staying her is one such thing.
I score this place 4 for my experience at the time of the visit. Simply an...
Read moreThe infinity pool was fantastic! It was a perfect end to a long, dusty drive. Food and cocktails were great. Beds were comfy and the room was huge. Service was impeccable - many thanks to Saul, Lynette, and Barbara for a great stay. I really enjoyed the vervet monkeys cavorting all over the property. Although they were clean, the bathrooms could use some love - especially the lighting. I will never understand the logic behind the European shower/toilet combo. The cabins could use a little updating as well. The canvas on the tent flaps in our room had some sort of insect nests. Not a complaint at all - but just a heads up the WiFi only works in the main lodge which is the case for most places we...
