Hamza has established an exceptional homestay inmidst his family and orphanage. Guests get a unique insight into the Ugandan family cohesian and collaboration. Guests are immediately treated as family members and you make friends for life. The house looks very amicable, while Hamza and his family make every effort to make you feel at home. The rooms are practical and very clean. The food you get by the family is cooked with love and exceptionally good. The brother of Hamza guided us through the neighbourhood, where we saw the school, but also visited a farmer explaining to us, how vanilla grows. You can easily stay a week there and explore the region with several National Parks, gorillas, chimpanzees, hippos, lions, giraffes, a gorge, several lakes, the Katunguru channel between Lake George and Lake Edward, while the famous Rwenzori Mountains of the Moon are not far either. The cute little girls and boys of the orphanage complete the wonderful picture with their songs and dances. I can only recommend the place and please, bring some presents for these...
Read moreDuring our 10 days trip to Uganda which combined Gorilla trekking and lots of Wildlife, African culture and charity, we had our 3 lovely nights at Lifhts of Kazinga and Homestay.||This budget accommodation is located on the rim of Kyambura gorge in Queen Elizabeth National Park, in western Uganda. The rooms were clean, the food was up to standard and the staffs were hospitable and would customize our needs throughout our stay.||One of the most memorable moments was when the orphanage kids came to entertain us with traditional Ugandan dances and folk songs during dinner on our fist night plus the lady morning before departure!||We were able to donate the little we could afford plus tipping the kids and left them all happy!||I would really recommend this accommodation for those on budget trips, backpacking and more especially those wanting firsthand experiences of local people, while on any trip to Uganda...
Read moreAt Lights of Kazinga we enjoyed great service and a very friendly reception. The room was tight but we had an outdoor sitting space overlooking the gardens which somehow extended the area of the room. Breakfast was included and they accommodated our request for a very early one (5:30) without a problem. We also had other meals and found that everything was tasty and abundant. Staying here also gave us the opportunity to learn a bit more about, and contribute to, the great work that Shamia and her team do in supporting vulnerable children with their schooling. They were all lovely and accommodating hosts, Shamia, her staff, her own children and those they look after. Its a very...
