I do a lot of travel in rural East Africa, and this place is bad by any standards. I write this at 6.30am, having been woken by petrol-powered lawnmowers outside my window at 6.15am. Each night I have to play music to block out the noise from other residents talking, listening to TV as the sound-proofing is non-existent. There are the remains typically African insect invasions all over the corridors. There is no alcohol available. The hotel is located in a quiet area, outside the town, and last night the stars were extraordinary. Yet because of the hideous lighting in the hotel grounds, the stars are invisible anywhere within the compound. There are no light shades anywhere in the building, so the strong lights make everything very bleached and depressing. I can tolerate most things, but this cold light is utterly depressing. The wifi is only available in the dining-room (there is no lounge) where the TV is constantly set on loud. The food is below Ugandan hotel standards. There is an ample parking space so you never get worried of your car and it's perfectly safe any time of the day. The hotel is all inclusive catering for people with disabilities. There are a variety of rooms to choose from at an affordable price and quite elegant. Orders typically take between 20 minutes and an hour depending what you have ordered exactly. But you will never regret spending your evening or weekend here. I cannot over emphasise the 24/7 free, fast WI-FI. Only downside is the lack of a swimming pool and gym services. Hope they will be available soon. Enjoy your stay...
Read moreGracious Palace Hotel is a clean, well-organized, nice place to stay. We stayed 2 nights. The room we were given was clean, spacious and decorated nicely. There is a powerful fan and a self contained bathroom. The bed was comfortable. In the morning the shower water was cold but we told the staff and they fixed the problem. Apparently it needed switched on from another room. Then shower was hot and powerful after that.-something not found often in Uganda hotels and B&B's so it was a pleasant surprise. Breakfast is included in the price and they serve a nice buffet with many choices including fresh fruit. Wi-fi was strong and reaches even the outside courtyard area. The staff was friendly and accomodating. We will definitely be staying there every time...
