Where to start...|It is an incredible place run by most friendly and accommodating people you can imagine.||Rooms are spacious yet cozy, we got one near the gate to the estate, first floor with stunning views from the balcony on the lake. Rooms are kept nice and tidy, all necessities included like mosquito net (though there aren't many), very comfy bed, towels etc etc.||Then you have all the positive characters (staff) working to make you feel at home. Everyone was super nice to us, especially Dennis with his smile, impeccable manners and rare ability to be right there exactly when there's something you may need.||Food served for any meal was always very good, served on time (which is not always a rule based on my experiences in Rwanda and Uganda) and for any meal you always have at least two choices. What not to like 👍 ||Last but not least, I have to mention owners, Didan and his wife Charity, who from the first moment you meet them do not appear as 'service providers' but rather friends for longer than just your stay here. Besides the resort they run Loving Hearts (school) and Mambo Gorilla Safaris, we've managed to both visit kids they help and go on an incredible tour with Mambo Gorilla. But that's another story, I'll likely place a review on appropriate profile.||So, if you're looking for affordable stay, providing you with amazing service, 'feels like home' kind of vibe and 'cannot get better' views, that's it....
Read moreThe Loving Hearts Team at Bunyonyi View Resort really lives up to its name, the staff here has to be the coolest and most welcoming bunch I've met during my time in Uganda. These people are a gift and I'm grateful to have met them, we spent a really good time together.
The lake is breathtaking and looks almost surreal from the viewpoints they could recommend to me. In the resorts swimming area, located in a sunny bay, I could refresh and afterwards go for a delicious juice or meal on the rooftop dining area. The rooms are equippped with a hot shower (very nice, since it can get chilly at night) and comfortable beds. Most evenings there is a campfire, around which I could share some drinks and stories with other guests and locals.
During day the reception was happy to organize canoe rides, bicycle and trekking tours or whatever my heart was wishing for. Since Bunyonyi View Resort is linked up with the Loving Hearts Uganda Foundation, that provides education and support for orphans and other children in need, you get the unique opportunity to visit or help out in a local school up in the mountains. The joy and happiness I have encountered there inspired me a lot.
Seriously this is some good place! For me, it is the perfect getaway spot. I definetly recommend staying here for those looking for a place with an easy going athmosphere, fair rates, delicious food and...
Read moreTerrible. You know there might sometimes be a power interruption, but the fact that the interruption happened several times and took ages to be resolved, was not OK. There was no backup (solar) generator. Try making your suitcase to leave at 5 in the morning when it's pitch black in the room. Also, we were there for 2 days, and there was no (warm) water. The first day, there was no warm water and only very little pressure on the cold water tap. Telling the staff did not help. they said they would send somebody, but never saw anyone. We just got back from a days hiking, so we really wanted to shower. Luckily, our neighbours in the room next to us offered us to use their shower. Also very little pressure there, but at least we could wash ourselfs (even though we were kneeling on the floor of the shower because if you lifted the showerhead too high, pressure was gone completely). Next day, no water at all. This was the last day of our holiday. So we needed to make our suitcase in the dark and there was no water to wash ourselfs before heading to...
