In the middle of the craziness that is the city of Kampala, the last thing you might expect is to drive through huge security gates and step into an English country garden. It is like suddenly being airlifted to an entirely different world in the blink of an eye. The grounds, the pool area, and the grouping of villas surrounding it, create a magical oasis. The couple who owns it couldn't be nicer or more accommodating. On a nice sunny morning, breakfast, if you wish them to provide it for you, is served by the pool. Or, if you prefer, it will be brought to your villa at the prearranged time. The two dogs are as friendly and welcoming as their owners and, somehow, just seem to fit in with the ambiance. The rooms are quite adequately appointed but I will bet, if there was something you thought you were missing, it would show up the minute you asked, Sadly, I was only there for one night but, if I am ever back in Kampala, that would be the first place I would head. Read moreA lovely quiet compound of little cottages/villas, surrounding a pretty garden and small (but not shallow) swimming pool. Owners Shane and Emily, who live on site, were wonderfully helpful, both before and during our visit. We stayed a whole week, using all the cottages - quite a large group! Ideal for families with couples and singles. The staff were also very polite and helpful.|Cottages are equipped with fridge and cooking facilities. As a big family group we gathered in the largest one for breakfast every morning, then got takeaways to eat together near the pool in the evening, or went out for dinner. |The cottages are well-equipped and comfortable, with reliable wifi and TVs (although we were so busy we didn't watch TV!). |This is an ideal base for resting, holidaying, and also exploring Kampala. It's easy to get to Lake Victoria from here too, where there is a wealth of wildlife, especially birds. We hope to come...
