I believe the host is pleasant as she is the one we interacted with online. However, the daughter Olivia who is at the physical location was quite unpleasant as she would complain about the smallest things about us when we were an earshot away. The first group of friends stayed the night before and seemed to have played music really loud - we apologised the next day when we checked in but the anger from that incident continued into the following days (didnt matter how many times we apologised).||The next day (on the actual birthday) she made remarks about not hosting “Ugandans ever again” and also said she only allowed us to stay “..because the birthday girl was an Acholi” She said all that and more out loud by the way to us (her guests). More so, she went ahead to again ask that we leave 2 hrs ahead of the party! Woow||||These remarks were triggered by the bbq guy using saucepans that she wanted to use to prep food for the next group that was coming the next day. We should be able to use the kitchen & its equipment to prep our meals as guests no?? She had no issue talking rudely to her guests at all!||I believe she could have been more hospitable and not disrespectful to her guests and also handled the whole thing in a more mature way. More so, being tribalistic & making it a “Ugandan problem” were discriminatory remarks made in poor poor taste! ||||I think the owner (her mother) should get feedback from guests separately as I dont believe we are the first to go through that. Her staff also mentioned the same ill treatment as we got along really really well with them - they were the highlight of our...

Read moreI spend 4 nights at Papaya Holiday Home with my boyfriend who came to visit me in Kampala for 10 days of holiday. After spending our first night, the owner tells us that she is gonna cancel the last two nights of our stay, as she has accepted a bigger group wanting to book those dates. I had booked the room 2,5 weeks in advance (had a written confirmation) and even gone to check it out to make sure of the standards. As we couldn't do anthing about the cancellation, we had to spend time and energy on the two first days of our holiday to find another place for the last two nights. The owner agreed to pay some of the balance of the other place as it was impossible to find a place of the same standards within our budget. Still, it was stressfull and made the rest of our stay at Papaya Holiday Home less comfortable as we were told to leave despite our booking. Not what a holiday should feel like. I have never experienced getting a booking canceled WHILE staying at place because of a more favorable booking coming in. Very unprofessionel! This put aside, the place was nice and clean with...
