Maries Royal Hotel My experience as a foreigner: Pros :
Hotels pics online looks super cool but not quite cool as it really is, just a little closer though.
Hotel is somewhat more affordable
They provide toiletries
They have a safe( I couldn’t use it and didn’t ask
Free breakfast from 6:30am to 10am (you cant request earlier than that.
Their restaurant is cool with nice and affordable meal
Cons: The door look of my room was broken which made it hard to lock and unlock both from inside and outside. Which I’m quite sure they were aware and still provided the room
Wash room light does not work
There are mosquitoes in the bed room as well as their restaurant.
Their laundry service starts at 7:30am and they do not provide physical iron and board
Reception doesn’t seem quite helpful (not all of them cos the one I met earlier seemed more helpful)
You better bring your own power multi socket or board if your devices aren’t having the same power Input pins (countries like India, US(maybe)) otherwise you’ll have to go to town to get it yourself
Hotel rooms aren’t sound proof any little sound can be heard from your room including a ringing telephone from another room, birds chirping and a mosque call to prayer sound
My over all take is, a night or couple of nights stay at this hotel could be fine, longer that wouldn’t be recommended or you’d better pay for a day or two and observe things yourself. If you are happy with it then continue to stay otherwise better to check out. I’ll update this review as I keep experiencing new things
I will in future choose this hotel maybe on emergency or unless I’d like to enjoy their restaurant (which they have a very good food and quite affordable compared to other places.) Otherwise bye...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of staying aMarie's Royal Hotel, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. The hotel exudes charm and elegance, with its classic architecture and thoughtfully designed interiors. Located in the heart of the city, it offers both convenience and a quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle.
The staff were incredibly attentive and made me feel welcome from the moment I stepped into the lobby. Check-in was efficient, and the concierge went above and beyond to accommodate my requests, even arranging a last-minute dinner reservation at a popular local restaurant.
The room was beautifully furnished, with a perfect blend of comfort and luxury. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and I loved the plush bedding and pillows. The room had a cozy seating area and a well-stocked minibar. The bathroom was spacious, with a rainfall shower and high-quality toiletries. I particularly enjoyed the view from my window, which overlooked the charming cityscape.
One of the standout features of Marie's Royal Hotel was the dining experience. The breakfast spread was impressive, featuring a variety of local and international dishes. Everything was fresh, and the presentation was elegant. I also had dinner at their in-house restaurant, and the quality of the food and service was top-notch. The chef’s special, a roasted duck dish, was one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time.
The hotel also has a lovely rooftop terrace, which was the perfect place to relax in the evenings. The view was breathtaking, especially as the sun set over the city. The only downside to my stay was that the fitness center was smaller than I expected, and it lacked some of the equipment I’m used to, but it was still functional for...
Read moreThis is my first trip to Uganda and I stayed in this hotel for 10 days. ||Staff|The staff was excellent. They communicated well. Every enquiry I had was well listened and activated upon. Food The food was good. Breakfast was excellent. It was a buffet style and whenever they were running low on a particular dish, they replenished. The menu catered to all different ethnicities. So for all western travellers who are concerned about your food intake, you do not need to worry. I had most of my meals at the restaurant. The food was prepared with great care and I did not have any problems. Room The room was very comfortable. The bed was hard which was good for me. The toilets were dry and separated from the showering area. The hot water took a while but with a bit of planning, it was not an issue. I had a problem with the aircon and they were quick to respond and eventually moved me to another room.||Sleeping Experience|The only problem was the noise. A few units away from the hotel is a nightclub. The music was loud and sometimes that went on throughout the night. This could be a major concern for many. So please bring some ear plugs. There were times when it troubled me but that did not stop me from having a comfortable sleep. I was tired! Internet The connection was a bit slow but manageable. Laundry They do your laundry when requested. | Security I felt safe in this hotel. Which is important. There are many hotels that I have been too and I am worried about my safety. This hotel felt really safe.||Location|It’s near Lake Victoria and the hotel is about 200 meters from the main road. You cannot hear...
