Hi, I snowboard in bukovel within dates (12-15/02/2017). It was really awsome time. Well prepared slopes (but sometimes no signs on crossroads). The best snowpark I have ever been to. Everybody could freestyle there (from beginners to advanced). Good price for the quality. The only bad experience occured when I was trying to give back my snowboard boots after one day usage because of my accident on the snowpark...:/ I rented boots from ski hire #1 (the first from the left) for three days for 315 UAH. Unfortunately on the first day on the last jump I fell really badly and had to go to the doctor (passport needed) to examine ma contorted collarbone. I gave back boots the next day before nine o'clock, requested money back for two days rental which I wouldn't have been using them anyway due to the accident. What was my surprise when they told me that I could take those boots and look at them for the next two days. They just didn't care about any of my explanations. I had to gave them back anyway because I need a passport to visit Bukovel clinic. I feel really sorry for such lack of understanding and flexibility...probably these guys took boots, rented them further for the next two days and took money 210 UAH to the pocket. Please pay attention to such situations because opinion take a big part in ruling the...
Read moreWhat you need to know about Bukovel (compared to Alpine resorts) it’s small but still decent size, lots of hotels, bars and restaurants, expensive for Ukraine, but still cheaper than the Alps. It’s generally about 30-40% too busy for it’s size. Skiing is OK only… it’s quite disconnected, basically 3 areas - starting at lifts 2, 5 or 7. The areas from 5 & 7 have connections, but lift 2 is a particular choke point with old fashioned lifts - 2x chair and 4x chair. We had the added misfortune to come when the 4x chair was out of service. This resulted in queues of 90 minutes!!!! That will simply ruin your day, but there’s no other way to get across the resort. Because of these poor connections, and many day visitors from surrounding areas, the car traffic at the end of the ski day is horrible also. Seems to me they could invest in better lifts, and make a trail from top of 7 to lift 1 perhaps… when it comes to restaurants, you’ll find yourself eating at any one of the many Cartel owned places, with their high prices and mediocre dishes. Else you’ll be stuck with Ukrainian food or pizza - both of which are fine; but not more than once per week for me… Anyway, not the worst resort I’ve been to, but sooo far...
Read moreWas here many times and now is a time to place a feedback. I very like a beautiful Ukrainian mountains. Here you can feel real European Christmas Eve soul. Big list of tracks on your choose. What was bad is prices here. The prices is really bad in comparison with Alps or Turkey tracks courorts. For example you can fly to Turkey and stay there with a 3 times lower price (Airplane + Skipasses for all time + Staying in the same 3 stars hotel. For example for a stockfish at the fair in Bukovel courort seller ask you to pay 500 UAH and for a small portion of dumplings at a local cafe you must pay the same 500 UAH for 2 persons (in kiev you can pay 100 UAH for 2 big portions). So my verdict: if you have money and want to stay in Ukraine then you can visit Bukovel for it's qualitative service and really good tracks in all weathers but if you collect money or want a qualitative European service - then you need to visit Alps courorts, Turkey and Georgia, for beginners are Poland...
