Yes it's a B&B which comes with all a B&B entails, but this just seemed too oldie-worldy for me.
It started with the bedroom which seemed made up by an Aunt who had passed recently. It was ok, it certainly wasn't bad and I slept fine, I just didn't really feel comfortable there. I was in one of the rooms that did not have an en suite bathroom so was given a key to my own down the corridor. The bathroom was lovely!
The location isn't so great to be honest, it's just in a suburban street but certainly manageable with a single bus into the town centre and to be fair they are clear about that on their site.
I was perhaps most disappointed in the food. The site hypes this up and I was really looking forward to breakfast, but when it arrived, it was the worst kind of British Breakfast, floating in oil, so heavy, I just couldn't finish it. A shame. I stuck with pancakes for the following days knowing it wouldn't be in oil and to be fair, it was nice.
The owners seem nice enough, if a little matched to the feeling of the room I mentioned earlier. Matrical might be the feel I'm attempting to describe.
Lastly, whilst I was there, Northern Ireland experienced some of the worst March weather in ages (March 2013) and we all went through some extreme weather. This included such heavy snow that powercuts were experienced in the Guest House. The owners were great about this, calm and produced torches for guests and as the weather was so bad, hot water bottles came out for all! My onward transport was disrupted for the final night so I had to leave in the middle of the night. They were able to suggest a taxi company for me but most nicely of all, they insisted upon making me up a breakfast that I would still be able to eat in the middle of the night when I awoke. Sure enough, when I woke in the middle of the night, outside my door had been left the breakfast and snacks for the journey. Very nice of them.
I just wouldn't really want to stay here again. Sorry!*

Gerry helped me plan out my adventures, and gave me lots of tips, ideas, and helpful hints along the way. ||Beautiful, upscale neighborhood. Very walkable to nearby shoppes and eateries. The local bus going into the city center is just across the street and the bus coming back drops you off right at the driveway! So convenient! Much more affordable and immersive than taking a taxi. ||Booked a large room with a fantastic bathroom and large, lovely bathtub! The bed was so comfortable, I slept like a baby. Gorgeous views out my windows. An Old Rectory epitomizes my vision of Irish charm.||Anyone going to Belfast or the surrounding areas should book a room here! Loved every minute of my stay!
