Private luxury retreat — Hotel in Braintree

We had all booked in for the weekend as we were attending a wedding at the castle near by , we were greeted by a female who said jays out your rooms are to the right she then quickly showed us the bathroom and that was it , so we put our bags down and went for pre wedding dinner the other guests at the house were also attending the wedding so we asked what they thought about the house they all said the same it was very creepy and we all felt negative vibes at the house (horror movie comes to mind ) all of us had no sleep for two nights as their were noises all over the house, I’m also still trying to work out what part was luxury as the beds were uncomfortable breakfast was Burnt and you had to sit on your bed to eat it or stand up at a chest of draws the wardrobes were full of random items the host if that’s what you call him wasn’t welcoming or very professional and why no TVs in the room ? Even prisoners in prison have TVs right ? Very odd and...

We were very disappointed on arrival at the Hotel, overall maintenance was much to be desired, the host was scruffy and not very welcoming. On to the bedroom, shower and sink very clean and modern, no tea making facilities in room and no tv or radio, mattress had seen better days, torn cushion on the bed, furnishing okish, net curtains only, breakfast if you want to make it yourselves with your own ingredients, we payed but decided not stay, was offered discount if we make a visit...

Stayed here whilst visiting family nearby and we both loved it. It’s in a really nice location, near shops but feels like you’re right in the countryside. Has amazing gardens with willow trees and inside is great too, really airy spacious rooms, nice and cool in the heat and nicely decorated. Jason is a great host too, very welcoming and helpful but not too invasive. Liked it so much we are looking at renting the whole property for a family get together...
