Stayed in the coach house due to being disability friendly however, there needs to be some improvements. The bed is far to low for anyone with joint issues to get down on to. The bedroom door would be better opening out onto hall as not much room near the bed when opening it. The doors from bedroom to outside don't work properly and are difficult to open and close even for an able bodied person. No shelving or mirror in wet room making difficult to have the things you need to shower nearby. Living room seating is again to low (and not comfortable) for anyone with physical disabilities. We left a few days early as it was Impossible to find anywhere comfortable enough to sleep or sit for my husband. Kitchen is tiny and not practical for more than one person at a time but had all that was needed including an airfryer. The cooker filled the place with smoke so think that probably needs a goid clean ! Outside was nice enough with seating (although lots of gravel and not much grass) a fire pit for use and hot tub was well maintained and clean. With a few adjustments to make this more disability friendly inside it would be lovely. Great selection of birds in the garden and surrounding area. Walk around lake was also nice. Overall, it was nice enough but until improvements are made, I...
Read moreWe were lucky enough to stay in Heron Lodge for the weekend recently. Upon arrival we were met by Oli who was professional and knowledgeable, he guided us through the accommodation, use of hot tub and fishing locations making settling in very easy. ||||The lodge was clean, spacious and had everything we needed. ||Hot tub was immense! Colour changing lights, jets and perfect temperature. ||Decking is overlooking the lake, has a bbq that makes this the perfect place to enjoy dinner and toasting marshmallows! ||||Fishing is brilliant, absolutely stunning carp and lake.. With plenty of spots easily found to present your rig on. ||||Before leaving we meet Steve the owner which was brilliant as he is a wealth of knowledge regarding the fishing and has built something special with this amazing place. ||There is day fishing on top lake, the lodges, a smaller lake with hut called barley pool and of course the famous bramblemere across the rd all of which Steve oversees. ||||Would recommend to anyone and everyone, fishing aside it’s just a totally gorgeous relaxing place to be. ||||Thank you to all at Whelford...
Read moreBeautiful cottage in a beautiful setting. The facilities were ok. We had a few issues that we wouldn’t have expected from a 5 star property - one of the beds had not been changed and the sheets were filthy, the hot tub water was not fresh, we found mouldy bread and fish bait in one of the kitchen cupboards and we generally felt that the property had not had a thorough clean let alone a deep clean, which after lockdown with the COVID virus we were under the impression was a necessity for any hospitality business. When we approached the owner Steven regarding the dirty bed he blamed us and our old arthritic dog that can’t even climb stairs. He was rude and his attitude was outrageous. He arranged cleaned sheets but still had the audacity to blame my husband. He also ignored us for the rest of our stay and had no courtesy to apologise once. Ollie on the other hand was always available and couldn’t do enough for us.
A fantastic place for keen fishers or anybody looking for a quiet weekend away. Wouldn’t stay again unfortunately because of the issues, cleanliness, and the unprofessionalism...
