Massive warning to anyone staying here.
Our van hot broken into overnight and the staff couldn't care less. I had the owner of the business outright laugh at me when I told him.
These guys charged us £10 per van to park in the 'secure' carpark. Didn't stop the thieves and it certainly wasn't the first time. Judging by the staffs reaction, this is something that happens daily.
Seriously do not stay here. The boss is a horror show who instead of showing us any sympathy just laughed it off.
As for our room, it was terrible.
We arrived at 10.30pm, got into the room to find out the shower wasn't working. Called reception, no answer. Had to phone the hotels external number to get someone to come up. 20 mins later, a little guy came up to fix the shower! No tools or idea what to do, so clearly it didn't fix the issue.
Pushed them for another room which was found for us after another 30 mins.
A real mess of a hotel. Our shower had been broken for a long time. Why put us in the room? Incase we hadn't complained I guess.
Anyway, off we go to our new room.
Wake up next morning and I've got a nice selection of bed bites from my nights sleep. Lucky the shower works!
Seriously, I stay in a lot of hotels with work and this one was the worst.
Give it a miss. I'm going to share my review across as many platforms as possible. The business owner has all of my contact details but I still haven't had any apology of offer of compensation regarding our losses.
Beware of this 'quality' hotel. The name doesn't do it any justice!
I'd call it 'the give it...
Read moreStayed for 2 nights with work. Smallest hotel room I've ever stayed in. Dated carpets and decor, no wardrobe, just a shelf to hang clothes on. Feels like lower budget (with the greatest respect) than a Travelodge but at around twice the price. The room at the front of the hotel was directly facing the dual carriageway which was about 20 metres away. That plus the poorly performing double glazing had the effect of every car whizzing by feeling like I was sat on the hard shoulder, such was the noise level. Paper thin curtains did nothing to blockout the noise or the near 5000watt street lamp shining directly into my room. The paper thin walls did nothing to deafen the noises from guests in other rooms or in the corridors. Consequently I had a very poor night's sleep and woke-up feeling terrible. The restaurant was poor, the menu very limited and the decor and atmosphere was depressing. I felt the need to get out of there quickly or I may never leave. Felt like I was on death row. I found myself staring wistfully and longingly across the dual carriageway at the Windmill Village Hotel directly across the road. The people; smiling, happy to be there, enjoying their time, content, peaceful and appreciated and in nice surroundings. 'Sigh'. I stayed here for two nights. After the first night I even considered leaving and paying to go somewhere else at my own expense, just so I didn't have to suffer again this awful place. The hotel feels unkempt, unhappy and unloved which is how I felt when I drove...
Read moreFirst up, the staff are excellent. A genuinely nice, friendly, helpful team. But the rooms are dated. Both rooms I had were showing their age. Obvious signs of ware & tare. As other reviews have mentioned, the bathroom seems to have a crack in the sink by default. And the bath had been patched in my second room. Additionally the extractor fan was noisy, but this was solved by simply turning off its switch. And there is no way to control the room temperature. This will make getting a good nights sleep quite challenging. The radiator just has the option of on or off. No thermostat head. So windows open, radiator on full chat. But having the window open means noise. I know thats outside of the hotel's control. In the same way that other guests are noisy. So expect to be distributed by doors slamming, othere guests TVs, conversations in the corridors etc. There is free Wi-Fi, but its unreliable. It will drop out a number of times in an evening. But there is great 4G coverage from O2 & BT/EE. As for the the food, all kinds of good. I personally would like a bigger mug for tea in the morning as getting up 3 or 4 times with a small cup is a little tiresome after several days. And the evening menu may seem a little limited, but the food is well cooked, tasty and very nicely presented. So great staff, good food but bedrooms in desperate need...
