We stayed one night as we were taking the ferry to Calais. We received a code prior to arrival and our room number by email. We checked in without hassle and the room was big and airy. It was a hot night but we were able to get some air through the window and it was quiet. ||Initially we felt the room was clean but a strange smell led me to an oily stain on the duvet. It didn't smell unpleasant so we didn't complain. The bathroom was not clean and the toilet roll holder was pretty dirty.||There was plenty of tea and coffee and some parking availability on a first come basis. ||In the morning I dropped the key in the box and immediately realised I had left something in the room. I phoned the owner who said nobody would be around until 9am but we had a ferry to catch. I arranged that we would pick it up on the way back. I confirmed this by text and email but got no reply. We stopped by but the cleaner couldn't find anything. I phoned the owner who told me I was mistaken where I had left it but it had definitely been left in the room. He said he would have another look and post it but three weeks later, nothing. I wouldn't stay there again due to the lack of staff, lack of customer care and the fact that it was...
Read moreI just returned from staying over night at this guesthouse. I had ZERO complaints about it. Ive read some reviews and everyone seems to be absolutely criminal in their pickiness. You are paying what? £35 for one night (as I did), what do you expect? a bar/room service/perfect location and more? it's laughable. For what I paid, and what I got - I think the guesthouse was perfect for me. a solo traveller. the room was spacious (room 6), the room had more than I even expected! a microwave/fridge/ironing facilities/floor length mirror and rainforest shower. for the price it was MORE than enough!! the room was secure, tidy, clean and most importantly CHEAP! people need to relax. you get what you pay for & I was honestly pleasantly surprised with my stay. Car park was free. decent size TV on the wall. Wifi. Privacy. Plates/Kettle with all condiments. I loved it and if im ever back in Dover I will 100% stay again! I've stayed in hotels that I've paid £50+ for one night only and got A LOT LESS so... If you are reading this and want a nice, clean, safe room for the night -- ignore previous pedantic reviews of people expecting way to much for their money, and book this place!...
Read moreEventually managed to get booked into this hotel after various issues with card payments which I am not sure was Booking.Com or Bluebells fault. According to my bank they rejected first attempts at payment as my address was given incorrectly.||Once I had managed to get booked in on the phone, I received an SMS telling me code to door and where our room and keys could be found.||Efficient, if impersonal as there was no reception or any visible staff.||There was sufficient parking with 3 spaces in frt and more behind this guest house.||Room was very, very small, in fact we actually had half a room as from the outside you could see the bay window was split in half and served two rooms.||In fact so small a gap between end of bed and the wall, you had to duck under the telly to get past, and this caused a bit of an issue in the dark during the night.||There was tea making facilities, with enough tea...
