What a wonderful place to spend a week with your children. I would heartily recommend it to anyone else with or without children and we will certainly book again.
There was so much to do for our 18 month old that we spent a lot of time on the premises. The swimming pool, ride-on toys, animal feeding and the extensive play-room kept him (and us) entertained without extra cost or travelling time. I totally didn't expect the well-stocked play-room, or the volume and quality of everything on offer. It makes a week with an inquisitive active child all the less stressful. There's also more available for older children and teenagers too.
For adults, the rooms were large, kitchens well kitted out (lots of utensils, pans, plates and a good oven) and the shower and bathrooms were excellent. I also enjoyed playing a few rounds of pool in the play-room and the locally made tasty treats you can buy from there as well.
Free Wi-Fi is offered via a mobile device and works well. There's plenty of parking, but finding the place is a challenging. I would recommend that you follow their instructions when trying to find the place - much much easier than coming straight down from the M5 if you're coming from the North.
Shops are within 10 minutes drive, but we had a food delivery right to the cottage door which stocked us well for the week.
Overall, just simply impressed that there was so much there. It made entertaining a small person much easier and reduced stress and any last minute 'what will we do if it...
Read moreWe’ve just come back from the most wonderful stay at Red Doors Farm Cottages in Devon and I can honestly say it’s been our best UK staycation yet.
The location is absolutely perfect, nestled in the peaceful Devon countryside, it feels like a true escape from everyday life. Our cottage was full of charm and character, with all the comforts of home and more. At the back of the cottage, we were spoiled with open greenery as far as the eye could see, it was so tranquil and beautiful, the perfect backdrop for a morning coffee or evening wind-down.
The amenities were second to none. The indoor pool and sauna were a real treat, and the best part? There’s a booking system in place so you can enjoy them privately. It made the whole experience feel even more special and relaxing, like having your own private spa retreat.
Everything was immaculately clean and so well thought out from the facilities to the thoughtful touches in the cottage itself. You can really see the love and attention to detail that has gone into everything and that’s all thanks to the amazing host, Gill. She was incredibly responsive, warm, and welcoming from start to finish. You can tell she takes great pride in these cottages, and it shines through in every aspect of the experience.
We’re already planning our next visit, we didn’t want to leave! If you’re looking for peace, comfort, and a little slice of Devon heaven, Red...
Read moreYou think you’ve found the best place in Devon so what do you do - you visit again two weeks later and find another one, right?||And here we are at Red Doors, a useful device to remember it by but no less special with doors of any other colour. Tim and Gill have created a masterpiece. Let’s go - Animal feeding - guinea pigs, turkeys, geese, ducks, chickens (of a worrying number of varieties!) and freshly-hatched chicks. A games room of all games rooms. A huge pool where we had the pleasure of 4 hours of family swimming time without anyone else! A - we hear sauna. A rolling lawn with a trampoline, so many kids’ tractors and a beautiful orchard tree by the one red door of a 500 year old thatched farmhouse adjoining a once-in-a-lifetime slated courtyard. The most affordable and grown-from-seed fruit and vegetable plants, fresh eggs and a reasonable EV charger point. BBQs to borrow. If nothing else all this is heaven for small children - and their parents.||We were here for Granny’s 85th Birthday celebration, so a specially-made cake was an added and much appreciated hit.||We did enjoy our chats. Thank you so much Gill and Tim for your warm welcome, and we can’t wait...
