We stayed here over the weekend as visiting friends. We checked in fine and was given a room in the main building. We was right down the end of the corridor & Approaching our room 206 there was no lighting I noticed outside our room. Like other reviews I read previously we noticed a slightly damp smell, it wasn't too overbearing but noticeable . We were situated on the motorway side so we wanted to make sure our heating/cooling system was working. Sadly it didn't turn on. So we headed back to reception. The lady on the desk promptly sorted this and gave us a new room, this time in the other building left outside of reception. I must say this was so much better. Newer , modern rooms and definitely warmer , we felt comfortable straight away. I feel the rooms in the main building are in need of modernisation. Slept well , beds comfy and lovely soft bedding. However I woke up with awful neck strain as the pillow didn't agree with me. Breakfast we opted for full English. Was fairly busy as it was Saturday morning. The hot drinks/juices and continental were well stocked. The two toasters were situated in the corner, which wasn't ideal as you had to squeeze past a table and then you'd have to squeeze back past the people queing to make their toast when the toast was finally ready. I feel this could be moved to a place with a bit more wiggle room. McDonald's and M & S food are a stones throw away. A good stay overall, quiet nights sleep would stay again if in the area. I'd throughly recommend a room in the outer annex building. Photo 1 was from our first room and photo 2 is the room...
Read moreMy husband and I along with our 3 grown up children, travelled from Lincolnshire to stay at the premier inn on route to our holiday destination abroad as we were meeting up with further family members who were travelling with us from Midhurst which is only ten minutes down the road in the heart of the south downs. We were greeted warmly at reception by Debs, who we have seen many times now, as we do stay quite often here due to the convenience of where the hotel is, she remembered us and firstly reminded us to register both our cars on the touch screen pad and then showed us to our 3 booked rooms, she made sure all the rooms were to our liking and explained to us, as always where the spare pillows etc were kept, she asked if we would be eating at the ajoined beefeater restaurant and if we had made a reservation as if we hadn't she could do this for us, we had however already reserved a table for the evening and breakfast the following morning. It was so lovely to enter the room and see a couple of packets of complimentary biscuits to go with our tea, on our bed, I'm sure this was Deb's doing she has such attention to detail and comes across as extremely professional, a real asset to the hotel. The room was impeccably clean, the bed extremely comfortable, black out curtains so wasn't kept awake from any outside lighting, the bathroom was clean and tidy and stocked with body wash and towels. We all had a great night's sleep. Highly recommend staying here, and if Deb's is on duty when you arrive you're sure to have a...
Read moreUpon arrival it isn't clear where reception is straight away and only a small sign pointing the way. Outside reception is 4 disabled bays. On this visit other than ourselves the 3 other vehicles did not have a blue badge displayed.
Check in is nice and clean and looks promising. However the room, a disabled access room was unsuitable there's constant noise from the A3 rumbling away. Also there are no plug sockets near the bed. As someone with sleep apnea I was unable to use my machine. This has for a long time been a complaint and one which has not been addressed in over 20 years of suggesting and pointed out, when staying in hotels across the UK.
The room is looking very dated and the bed was far from the normal comfort advertised by Sir Lenny Henry.
The biggest problem with the room was the smell. It was clearly damp but the smell was hard to take but we checked in late and no where else to stay. The window was closed and after a few hours in the restaurant we returned and the smell was more tolerable.
I don't recommend staying here, certainly not in a disabled access room. We won't stay here again sadly. Also the. Mobile internet on EE had no signal at all.
I think this is the first time I feel let down by a premier inn room and it will affect my bookings in future, as it is/was a brand I could book with confidence in. Especially given the cost...
