We stayed in Bek's Abode, which is a beautiful, 2 bedroomed ground-floor apartment, and we chose this option for disability access.|It is a beautiful, modern and very clean apartment with some lovely, luxurious touches, such as a fully fitted kitchen with modern appliances, high quality matresses and furniture and the added bonus of a gorgeous hot tub!|It was spotlessly clean thoughout and was mostly very comfortable.|The fishing ponds and caravan site are so pretty, and the local wildlife is very friendly - specially when you pop round with some food treats.|It is in a great spot for enjoying the beautiful countryside, and Skegness with all its attractions and beaches are a short drive away. I don't know about public transport though.|There was a small welcome basket when we arrived with a few teabags, coffee, sugar, biscuits, shower gel, soap and shampoo in - for the price we paid, I would have liked to see some essentials to get your stay started such as milk, bread, butter etc, as there isn't a shop nearby. My advice: go shopping before you arrive. We did enjoy the biscuits that were left though.|The hot tub is fantastic, one of the best I've been in, and an absolute treat! I think the steps are in the wrong place to get in and out though, plus it's overlooked by the house next door and we were being watched while we used the tub, which felt weird.|The apartment iteslf wasn't very warm and you can't control the heating yourself, so I'd bring woolies or a blanket with you for the evenings, or you will have to keep calling the hosts.|There is a breakfast bar with high stools in the lovely kitchen, and only one of our party was able to use them due to disabilities, so we had to eat from our laps.|Adding a coffee table might help, for eating, snacks and playing games.|We struggled with the TV and had to ask for help a couple of times..|The bedrooms are cosy and beautifully decorated and the beds are super comfy with lovely fresh, clean bedding. One thing we noticed about the twin room, is the noise from the adjoining house - we overheard conversations, the TV, people using the bathroom, footsteps up and down stairs, a barking dog and even people...
Read moreAbsolutely loved this camping experience as not camped for over 25 years.was met by a very very nice welcoming by a man called Gary nothing was too much for him. He's a credit to the site. We thought he was the site manager and learned 3 days later it was a couple who had a few days away.
When we did see the site manager his hospitality was a little to be desired. Never acknowledged us he didn't make himself know which I thought was strange !!! On the morning we left he was arguing with his partner where all could hear bad practice if you ask me.about 20 min later his partner walked past my partner and stuck her nose in the air like it was too much trouble to speak to him.
We noticed signs for dogs to be on leads at all times but there dog was running in circles past all the campers again bad practice if you ask me.it should be the same rules for a everyone.
The toilets were very clean and the first 3 days the showers were lovely but then after that it was so hot to take a shower like they had been turned up they need to be cooler.
We later learned that Gary wasn't staff he just helped out and I think he should be staff and the site manager needs to have hospitality lessons or better still got rid of as he's not good for a lovely buisiness.
We would go back all thanks to caring people we did meet and especially Gary who couldn't do enough for us ..other than site manager and partner a lovely camp site to visit and can't wait for the next...
Read moreLiked: This is a nice wee site with friendly staff. The facilities are clean and include toilets, showers and an outside washing up area. There is also a small shop but it is only open during peak season so I haven't used it. Considering it being the cheapest site in the area it is really well maintained and great value for money. Site is relatively quiet until the dawn chorus, which is pretty loud, but hey that's nature for you and preferable to a bunch of drunks playing duffduff music. Have used this site before and would definitely use again. I got lost on the way, (see dislike) and had to keep phoning for direction and the owner was really helpful and talked me through each step with good humour.
Disliked: It is a little tricky to find on foot as the local bus drivers only seem to know their own root so I ended up miles off course thanks to an idiot driver and a helpful but ill informed guy in the ticket office. As mentioned, the owner was really helpful and got me there safe and sound, if a little wet.
So to be a helpful old hippy you need a 2/2A bus to Beacon Way and then walk up the road about 200 yards, turn right onto mill lane and its about another 100 yards or so. If anybody in the bus office tells you otherwise and suggest 40 or 50 something then bite your thumb at them and call them a poppinjay for their insolence, or update that to modern parlance...
