We recently stayed at Charnwood Tavern Campsite, and we had such a great time! If you’re looking for a cheap but awesome place to camp, this is it.
Right from the start, the staff made us feel super welcome. They were all really friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Checking in was a breeze very relaxed.
Special shoutout to Mark, he was incredibly friendly and brilliant with the kids, which added to the overall charm of the place. Mark was fantastic with any request we had, always going the extra mile to make sure we were happy and comfortable, nothing was too much trouble.
One of the best things about Charnwood Tavern is how affordable it is. Even though it’s budget-friendly, they don’t skimp on the good stuff. The campsites are clean, spacious, and well-organized, so you get a nice balance of privacy and community vibe.
The facilities are great, too. The bathrooms and showers were always clean, which isn’t always the case with other campsites we have tried.
We were also blown away by the food at Charnwood Tavern. The portions were incredibly generous, and the quality was top-notch. Food was delicious and hearty, perfect after a long day at the beach, the prices was very good too.
The whole place has such a friendly atmosphere. The staff really go above and beyond to make everyone feel at home. Whether you’re experienced campers or it’s your first time, you’ll fit right in. Mark was always available to answer questions and recommend local areas.
Charnwood Tavern is very dog-friendly! Gated area and lots of little green lane trails for walks, Our furry friend had a blast exploring the trails and enjoying the fresh air with us. She was also very welcome up at the pub which was a bonus.
Overall, Charnwood Tavern Campsite is fantastic. It’s cheap, friendly, and has everything you need for a great camping trip. We’re definitely planning to go back soon!
Many Thanks Aiden, Danielle...
Read moreJust had 4 nights at Charnwood Tavern campsite. I will start with the positives, the food was lovely and dogs were welcome in the pub.
Downsides were numerous. The price was £20.00 with electric which was a fair price if the facilities were good. Unfortunately they weren't! There was no paper in the toilets, no soap, no drier or paper towels. More importantly no sanitizers in the toilet/shower block which should be provided by covid regulations.
The weather had been bad therefore the field was very wet but was made worse by cars travelling to and from the shower block. The entrance to the campsite was a quagmire resulting in people getting stuck and needing to be pulled to their plot. Luckily we were warned not to go into the campsite so we parked in the car park. Unfortunately the electric point didn't work properly. We reported this to the Landlady but we never saw an electrician. On our 1st and 2nd nights there were so many campers on the car park that there was only about 2 metres between us. On the 3rd and 4th nights we were blocked in by a camper across the front of us that had broken down. There were loads of potholes that filled with rainwater and piles of hard-core in the car park which we were told had been there for a long time.
Each time anyone went in or out of the campsite they were full of mud and this was trailed into the toilet block which we didn't see cleaned at any point during our stay. The industrial wheelie bins were full when we arrived and were overflowing when our friends left today.
We will not...
Read moreWhen we booked only space left was on the car park with hook, not a problem we thought. Arrived went it to book in nice member of staff met us and took payment £20 per night so 3 nights £60. Then it went down hill after that, we were shown to a spot on the car park which had just had a load of hardcore tipped on it and there was still a pile left. Next to this was were we were asked to park so, after a discussion with the misses we decided at £20 per night we were pitching up there. Our friends were on site and had saved a spot for us so we went and spoke to the staff and they agreed we could move and friend said we could split their electric. The site itself, toilet block, and pot washing was basic but useable. The pub was very dated and damp smelling and needed a massive refurb. The good thing was, if your with a group you could park together IF the 6m metre fire safety rule was observed but in some cases it wasn't. Not worth £20pn, £10pn maybe, will we stay again NO, would we recommend to others NO. Needs major changes and refurbing. Friends went in the pub for food and said...
