This is without doubt the best nights stay myself and my family have had in a very long time and we have traveled all over the world. First of all, the Altskeith Country House is a private hire venue which is absolutely perfect for large groups of family and friends looking for a unique, beautiful, relaxing experience for any function or party. The house and rooms are exquisite, each room is unique and has very thoughtful 5* touches including tissues, earbuds, hairdryer and cosmetics. The whole vibe of the architecture, decor and furnishings has a gorgeous mix of modern and antique; the house is so warm that it creates a comforting 'at-home' feel. This is only enforced by the magnificent owner of the house, Alison was so welcoming and accommodating the whole time we were there, she makes everything so easy and really creates that 5* rating. The three course meal was to die for and the bar was fully stocked with so much choice, everyone was happy. Finally we come to the location, coming from Drumchapel it's hard to believe that an area so beautiful exists only 30 minutes away. The Altskeith grounds and surrounding scenery are something from a fairy-tale, the loch, trees and fresh air are instantly relaxing. I cannot express enough how amazing, unique and welcoming the Altskeith Country House and all of it staff are. Thank you again for all the...
Read moreAbsolutely appalling experience. We booked directly with the hotel to support them—not through a third party. When Storm Flores hit and all trains to Glasgow were cancelled, we were completely stranded. We tried to find alternative routes, but everything was delayed or arrived too late to make the trip worth it. Traveling during a storm was unsafe, and we had no control over the situation.
We reached out to the hotel right away and explained everything. They hid behind a cold, rigid “7-day non-refundable” policy, refusing to show even basic human decency. Their policy doesn’t mention anything about force majeure or natural disasters, which should be a standard exception. Every other provider, including our private driver with a 24-hour cancellation rule, refunded us with zero hesitation. But not this hotel.
When we suggested a reasonable compromise—to be charged for one night and refunded for the other two—they flat-out refused. Worst of all, after days of polite communication, we finally got frustrated (and who wouldn’t?), and the hotel’s response was to call us rude, say they don’t want “clients like us,” and hang up the phone mid-conversation.
This is not hospitality. This is arrogance, lack of professionalism, and zero compassion. If you’re thinking of booking here—don’t. If anything goes wrong, don’t expect help, fairness, or even...
Read moreWe first contacted Alison at Altskeith 16 months before our wedding day to enquire about October 2023 availability. The reservation process was clear and simple, and Alison was always very receptive and clear with us on costs and optional extras. We went to view the venue 7 months before the big day and the location took our breath away. You simply cannot get a more stunning venue than this. I feel as though we had none of the usual pre-wedding issues simply because Alison and Yaz are so experienced and professional they took everything off our plate. Every single thing the entire weekend ran smoothly for us, including the (incredible) meal the night before and everything on the day. Both us and our guests were in awe at the venue, scenery, service, rooms, food and experience the entire weekend. Yaz's cooking is simply put the best food you will ever eat and should be enough to convince you to visit even without the views and service. We are so thankful we stumbled across this venue when looking online and now can't imagine having had our wedding anywhere else. We hope to return around the same time of year for years to come as an anniversary...
