“Fell Well Short of Expectations!”
The staff were really friendly and the duvet weight was excellent, bed also clean. Nice selection of toiletries and tea making items also a nice touch with the couple of bars of chocolate. Quality of channels on the TV was excellent, (shame about the TV).
A note greeted me on the door stating to ring a mobile number to be let in! (Staff were up the road). Wasn't offered free parking and so parked on the public highway. The room was so small you had to walk sideways to get past the bed, the windows had no nets which meant either the curtains had to be closed or the terraced houses could see directly in. The walls were so thin, I could hear the kids messing around until just after midnight as well as the adults talking, after a 300 mile trip, this wasn't welcomed. The room was very dated (to say the least). The kettle had to be put on the floor to enable to reach the plug, this eventually went on the other side of the room as it kept sparking in the extension lead on the floor. To fill the kettle up I had to use the mug with water as the sink wasn't much bigger than my hand and the kettle couldn't fit, (nor both my hands for that matter. Hairs all over the bathroom, so much so I didn't use the sink and I kept my trainers on in the bathroom. The toilet roll holder just fell to the left whenever it was touched. The TV was around a 10" which was a shame as the choice of channels was excellent... Needed binoculars to see it though. WiFi wasn't available within the room, (no signal). Plymouth City Centre is actually 3.2 miles via the ferry and not 1 mile as stated, (unless you can...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed at the Cambridge House Guest House in TORPOINT for two days recently . We stayed in order to watch our grandson pass out at HMS Raleigh . The location is great just a few minutes along the road to the venue for the event . ||The guest house is very good , clean tidy and with easy on-road parking outside . Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and they are very welcoming . ||Our room was quite good but the bathroom was small and we even had to come outside in order to dry ourselves properly . We had two nights of good sleep because the bed was very comfortable .and the breakfast is very good with everyone’s tastes catered for . ||There are cafes and shops and pubs nearby and it is easy to access the ferry over to Plymouth . ||The guest house is rated at four stars which I think is very generous I would rate it three stars but would definitely stay again if in the area . ||The staff are great and nothing is too much trouble thank you to everyone ....
Read moreWe received a text with instructions how to obtain the keys. Check in was very easy although we were informed our accommodation was at the top of the house so off we went up the stairs with our suitcase. Actually we were on the first floor. Negative points: The bathroom and shower were very small. Their was a huge stain on the carpet. There was dust on the picture frames and lights (this was visible, I wasn't looking for it) Positives, the bed was comfy and the staff were nice. Also the breakfast was nice, even though we had to share a sausage (this was our error though when we booked in, it only showed as a single person on booking.com) It was very near to friends we were visiting so the location was convenient. This B&B is advertised as 4 star on booking.com but it is not a 4 star rating in my opinion. I would have marked it higher on here had it classed itself a lower rating. That being said, it was a pleasant...
