Reading other reviews I am not sure we stayed in the same place. Maybe we were expecting too much from a guest house. On the plus side the whole place was very clean as was the linen etc and having a fridge and coffee maker in our room was a nice touch. Our hosts were not in attendance when we arrived on Sunday although we met Val on Monday or at least I think we did but it was difficult to know underneath the mask and baseball cap!! I am not sure who Paul was as we were never introduced. Our room appeared to have child beds as they were so low but perhaps they are now the "fashion". The shower was pathetic and is in urgent need of replacing by a power shower. Other posts have mentioned the quality of the breakfasts and I may have agreed if there was any sign of fried/poached eggs, hash browns and non spicy mushrooms. The hot food was removed at 9.15am which I find strange as you come on holiday to move at your pace and not to suit the owners. I got the distinct impression on leaving that Val was quite pleased to see the back of us although this of course is a personal opinion and I may well be wrong. In my view the guest house is average and I felt that the owners were merely going through the motions. Others obviously disagree and maybe they are right...
Read moreThe guest house is well situated, clean and tidy with off road parking (albeit with very narrow spaces)|Disappointed that we had to retrieve the keys for our stay from a key safe outside, situated in a somewhat awkward to reach place for less agile guests!|No one there to greet us, in fact we saw no one at all in the time we were there, such a shame as it makes the place seem very impersonal.|Our room was ok , bed was ok, very tiny en-suite was ok but the shower was rather feeble and had an incredibly heavy shower head…bizarre!|The hospitality tray was adequate, shame the kettle was too big to be filled from the sink though!!|No bottled water provided!|Only UHT milk provided, strange when the rooms have an excellent fridge that fresh milk isn’t supplied…the fridge was completely empty…|We won’t be returning to the Capri guest house I’m afraid, we much prefer a more personal, human...
Read moreSaturday in May, end of half term week, i.e. busy time, and I see The Capri has a room free - handy for an association dinner I'm attending that evening just down the road. The seafront has been closed several hours after a boat fire - much longer drive to my home via the diversion - so I decide in favour of a room for the night. The Capri is showing on Google as open until 9 pm. ||I ring more than once that afternoon (i.e. after the road closure): no answer. I call round (I'm a local resident) and the place is locked up and no one at home. Just a point for owners to remove the availability of accommodation that is showing online if no one is going to be there, and/or, if it says you're open for business,...
