We spent two nights at Compton Park, and the minute we arrived we were greeted by the most friendly staff we have experienced in a while! Booking in at the restaurant, nothing was too much trouble, then we were directed to our pitch. Compton Park is small and tiered over three levels, and the views are AMAZING! You can just simply while away the hours, book a table at The Engine House restaurant, or order a takeaway from them if you don't feel like cooking. When I asked the lady how long our fish would take (sis in law and mother in law were visiting as they live nearby) she simply said "Oh just give us a ring, we'll sort it for you, you give us a time, we'll have it ready." And they did. Super service. The toilet/shower "chalet" block is immaculate. Note for motorhomes - there is an ad hoc fresh water tap on site (in a bit of a weird place tbh) but there is no dedicated motorhome point for your waste water. The Elsan point though is a thing to behold! Super modern and so clean! That might sound a bit anal but you have to see it to believe it, after some of the waste points I've dealt with! I wouldn't let the lack of a motorhome point put you off Compton Park though, it is probably in the top 5 of sites we have stayed at anywhere, and the staff add to this praise. The gardener/groundsman we spoke to was a super friendly chap. We will defintiely be visiting Compton Park when we are down in Cornwall again, 5* isn't enough tbh, but...

We had an evening takeaway menu which was perfect when we couldn't BBQ in the rain!|Option to BBQ available on the gravel side of the pitch|Quiet location |Staff working at the Engine room bar/restaurant were helpful and cheerful.... high standard of service!|We had a little bit of confusion over our booking upon arrival but was swiftly rectified once communication was clearer. |Only thing that we feel would benefit the site and campers is a little shop. Tesco isn't far at all but for ease, luxury and a great all round experience, a little shop with bread, milk, eggs, suncream, ice, icecream, plasters etc.... would make Compton PERFECT! |We had a fabulous 3 nights here (again!) And we will most definitely be back asap.|Congratulations Compton Park and the Engine Room.... Fabulous standards 👌||Scott...
Read moreLiked: A very peaceful & quiet, remote location, a small site, very well kept.
Showers and toilets were very clean
Disliked: The public access road had a large camber/ raised middle of the road. To access the site there's a huge 'dip' off the road to the access ramp sloping upwards to the site. This caused the rear end of our 8m motorhome to 'ground' on the raised centre of the road surface as we entered. No severe damage but it seems this is well known by those having been here before. Scars in the tarmac demonstrate that others have also had this issue. A 'heads-up' on the website advising to use the opposite direction to enter as it's less steep, would have been helpful.
The steep gouged and loose gravel sloping drive up to the pitches were a real challenge for our brand new front-wheel drive MH. We lost traction and the wheels were just spinning until I reversed a little and took a slightly off-centre route.
Some shower cubicles don't have a mirror for shaving, the one that I saw that did was obviously made for someone about 5 feet tall as I could only see my chest (I'm 6 feet tall)
We were told that we couldn't have an electric pitch because they were fully booked however, there were 3 pitches beside us that all had power and remained empty all weekend -...
