We called in for a light lunch between my daughters rehearsals. The downstairs where we sat is lovely and full of character with a lovely view. Our food and drinks were bought out relatively quickly, and they were lovely and an added bonus for them as they kindly heated up my sons food. When we went to pay, we were overcharged - purely a mistake by a new starter, but I was made to feel like it was an issue for me asking for my money back and it made me think how many others had been accidently overcharged but not queried it. The toilet and baby change was clean but not at all practical as it is inside the communal ladies toilets, which meant that I had to change my baby by the sinks, take him into the cubicle and sit him on my lap whilst I used the toilet (which isn't great in a cramped room) fortunately, there was a lovely lady who agreed to hold him whilst I washed my hands. Although only a minor issue, it is worth making others aware. Overall, a lovely place to eat and not overly priced. We would return if we are ever in the area again.

Regular customer for many years, we booked and came in for Father’s Day and unfortunately our experience was not great. I do appreciate that it being Father’s Day it would be busy however we didn’t feel that the welcoming was very good, as we entered with a shouting match between the owner and a older couple over a booking issue and felt If so the owner went over the top as many other customers seen what happened. This did change our opinion on the place as we are normally regulars to the establishment but after this we will look elsewhere next time And the breakfast was another let down, the waitress bought the breakfast out and chucked it down as the plate was hot without no cloth to carry it with so instead you had it thrown towards you, on two of our breakfasts the bacon was missing and when it got bought over it looked if so it had been left on the grill for about a hour as it’s was snap-able Sadly this place has gone down hill

Went to see Argyle play on Saturday & popped in here as all my fellow fans in Bude say this is the best place to get a breaky on route to Home park & wow we were not disappointed, absolutely blinding breakfast cooked perfectly & using some great tasty local produce. I went for the Stonkin (pics below) as it had a steak on it lol which was also cooked just as I like it., then washed it down with a superb tasting latte. Together with being greeted by the very friendly & welcoming staff as soon as you walk in to a lovely restaurant with window all around over looking Callington & beyond this has now made my top 5 breakfast venues to go. Thank you all at the Engine House especially our waitress & the chef for being so knowledgeable & accommodating to my fiancés dietary requirements & we will definitely be back soon. I would advise to book a table as they get very busy very quick 😃🍽️🍳🥓🥩☕⚽💚👌🏻👍🏻

Stopped by this place as was recommended to us we sat down and awaited someone to come take our order, after sometime we was still waiting and those that sat down after us was being served first. Eventually our order was taken and expressed to the lady about an allergy which was fine then about 15minuets later another lady come over and said that unfortunately they couldn't cater for the allergy and that I would have to select something else after a quick look back through the menu there wasn't really anything else I liked the look of so said that I wouldn't have anything thanks. Well then the lady got rude and kept making suggestions to me what I could have I politely said again that I would be fine and will just have my drink which at this point hadn't turned up either. So the waitress huffed and left saying suit yourself. With that remark topped it off and at that point my partner went up to the counter and politely said that we would be leaving so don't worry about our order. The whole experience was below average to say the least and with us being new locals to the area and looking for a regular place for lunch this won't be our...
