One of the major issues we have had with Denham Grove is the lack of communication. Our previous wedding planner would take several weeks (sometimes months) to respond to emails and we would often have to chase after things in order to get any response. For example, following our first wedding planning session as promised that she would send over our notes "within a few days". However, we did not receive these until 5 weeks later after several emails asking for them to be sent over. Similarly our suppliers have also previously told us that they were struggling to get in touch with the events team at Denham Grove. The suppliers asked me to try and contact myself in order to get a response. One of the most distressing problems we have encountered has been the booking of hotel rooms for the night before and night of our wedding. Firstly, I booked a number of rooms for my bridal party for the night before the wedding. When these were first booked the reception team somehow managed to book these for September rather than August! Luckily we spotted this mistake and were able to get this corrected. However, our guests have continued to experience issues when trying to book rooms for the night of the wedding. A number of guests have informed us that they have received confirmation emails with the wrong names on, their names have been spelt incorrectly, rooms have been booked for the wrong dates in August and one guest was even quoted £119 for a room even though a number of the £79 rooms on our block were still available at the time. We also find it confusing that a number of our guests have said that no one answers the phone when they ring the main reception. We have also attempted to ring on a number of occasions and have experienced the same thing. We were under the impression it was a 24 hour reception at Denham Grove? Every time there has been a mistake it has taken long periods of time to sort out and we have had to apologise to our guests and rectify the issue for them, which I'm sure you can appreciate is highly embarrassing.

Two weeks before our wedding, the wedding planner left her role. Had we not been told by one of our suppliers that our wedding planner was leaving, I wonder whether anyone would have bothered telling us! I was extremely angry that we never received any notification from anyone at Denham Grove that our wedding planner was leaving her post two weeks before our wedding. It was not until we confronted Denham Grove via email that she informed us that she was leaving and that someone would be in touch. Once again this email never materialised and we had to chase the issue. The night before the wedding there was also an issue with the room that I was meant to be staying in. I had requested to be put in the same room that I was to get ready in on the morning of my wedding. However, upon checking into the hotel I was told that there had been a double booking and that I would now need to get ready in a conference room instead. I was obviously not happy with this but was told that nothing could be done. I was assured that on the morning of my wedding that all of my bags would be moved for me into my new room. However, this was not done and during my wedding day I had to transfer all of my belongings to a different room. As well as this, all of the external companies that we had hired for various things were told that they would be able to set up the night before our wedding. As they arrived at the hotel to set up they were told that this was no longer possible as someone else was now using the room. Our suppliers had spoken to Denham Grove 24 hours before this in order to confirm they could still come and set up. Some of our suppliers had to travel over an hour to get to the venue, as you can imagine they were not overly impressed to be turned away. Denham Grove have since accepted responsibility for all of the above issues and did give us some money back. We do want to emphasise that they wedding day...

My friend and I stayed at the Denham Grove Hotel the first week in February 2022. We had business in both Weybridge and Oxford, so the location suited us. The hotel description gave us the impression that the hotel had a lot to offer. Swimming, hot tub, two restaurants and peace in the countryside. We booked and executive room and were excited about our journey.

Restaurants- their website states they have two places that you could eat. The Steam, Bake, and Grill restaurant was only open for breakfast until 9:30 am. Leaving only the Bar/Lounge for lunch and dinner with a limited menu. The service was good but the food was standard bar fair and not very tasty.

Facilities- The indoor pool is a good size for proficient and lap swimmers. It is also lovely and warm. It suited me but it is a bit deep for those with less confidence, of shorter statute and children. The only way in and out of the pool are two step ladders making easy accessibility limited to those who are fully ambulatory, and tall enough to reach the bottom rung on the ladder.

The hot tub looked inviting, upon entry, we saw brown scum around the edges.

We were not informed by reception that a separate key was needed for the swimming pool and gym or that the towels needed to be picked up at the front desk prior to going to the pool/gym area. This is a distance for older and/or disabled guest and a nuisance for others. Information is best gained before needed.

Dressing room was not appropriate for more than one person at a time as there is no private changing area other than the toilet stall and only one shower. There was no place to hang a towel whilst using the shower. In addition, it lacked the usual hair dryer, spinner for suits, and plastic bags for wet swimming suits.

We were astonished to find that there was not a lift which can be very frustrating if you are older or have trouble with stairs and carrying bags up the stairs.

Room Comfort- The single beds were adequate, a bit narrow, and the room temperature was perfect. It was lovely having a balcony. The description online says it is an upgraded selection of tea and coffee. We had the standard of English tea bags and Nescafe coffee.

Cleanliness – There were a few cleaning issues that we noted on our stay. The first was that the bathtub in our room had white soap scum around the edge of the tub. Sadly, this was not noticed until after the bath was ran and sat in. There were also cigarette butts on the balcony.

Maintenance- deferred maintenance was noted in the room itself where brown paint had come off the door, a lamp did not work. Etc.

Parking- there is ample parking and designated disabled spots right out front of the hotel. This was quite convenient.

Hospitality- Some of the staff were excellent pleasant, helpful, cheerful, knowledgeable and respectful. A few were dismissive and not friendly at all.

Bottom line. The hotel description misrepresents what the property delivers. My marketing training always taught me to undersell and overdeliver. Gaining repeat business and recommendations can only be accomplished through an honest representation of the property. Not glossing over the details e.g., no elevator, limited pool access, etc.

A clean room means a lot and believe me I am sure others who enjoy a bath would notice soap scum. Communication is also important and if we had been given the information about pool use, we would have gladly stopped at reception on our way down to the pool rather than having to traipse back to reception to gain access and get towels.

The hotel looked wonderful online and was offering a good rate which led to our booking. The website paints a better picture of the hotel than it truly is today. Yet the potential remains, and it could be revived. The biggest let downs were the limited eating facilities, and menus, no lift, the pool facility, and the scummy hot tub and...

Hotel is average, a little dated and probably in need of refurbishment. The rooms are comfortable but our room was very stale smelling on arrival and needed airing for 30 mins or so with the window wide open, which should not be needed. In fairness it was fine after this. However, the extractor fan in the bathroom did not work at all which makes a difference when there are no windows, and the shower had very little pressure so was a struggle. The carpet was stained and the tiles and grout in need of refreshing since they looked grubby. The bed was comfortable enough but the pillows flat and thin, luckily my wife brings her own pillows (long story) and I can sleep on most surfaces so disaster avoided. Customer service was not brilliant. We were not greeted at the reception on arrival, we had to make ourselves known to the lady behind the desk to check in. She seemed to be avoiding any interaction with us, which was strange. The service was minimal and I had made a reservation for multiple rooms for my party, some of which were mixed up despite us checking repeatedly. This was inconvenient and meant needing to repack some peoples bags and swap later in the evening. It was a struggle to get any information from the receptionist. I simply wanted to know where the restaurant for dinner and bar could be found, what the procedure and location was for breakfast, and were the conference room I had hired could be located, however this seemed to be a hassle and I was told the morning staff would tell me if I came back to reception. The dinner was poorly organised and two of our group were missed with their main courses and dessert which seems basic and not really acceptable with a set menu dinner. Organisation was poor. Breakfast was a bit of a shambles, with the coffee machine not working correctly and stopping altogether several times, and when running delivering cold coffees for some of us. The ceramic mugs were few in number and when they were all taken, paper cups were used as replacement, which are not suitable and definitely detract from your enjoyment. The hot food was not efficiently delivered, the fried eggs were brought out to the buffet style dishes in batches from time to time. The server for some inexplicable reason put all the fried eggs on the dish upside down, with the yolk facing down. She then proceeded to flip them all again, breaking most of the yolks (unsurprisingly) and then giving my wife two broken eggs, which was not really satisfactory. When I went for the next batch, the gentleman in front of me decided to take four fried eggs for himself, which I appreciate is nothing to do with the hotel but hints towards the clientelle and attitude at the breakfast buffet. Finally, after breakfast, when I did manage to get the information on the conference room from the morning reception staff, I was given instructions on where to find the conference room. When I found it, the door was locked and I could not get in, and when I went back to reception another gentleman told me I had to get the key from reception. It was a little frustrating to say the least since reception didn't give me the key and nobody wanted to give me any information when asked. I was then made to feel like I should have known I needed the key, which I could not have known. The conference room was nice and facilities were good with large TV, coffee machine and water bottles etc. The room was set for one too few people from our party, but this was put right soon after. Just bad organisation. Wouldn't return for another visit. We had a good trip, since our party are a positive bunch and we were on a team building event which we enjoyed. However, this was despite the service, which could have soured things if we were more 'glass half empty'...

Arrived after a long day at work and the place was full of children screaming and running around by the pool which you have to pass to get to through the hotel to all the rooms. It sounded like a leisure center swimming pool lessons not a hotel. . It was very loud. Horrible arrival and not acceptable for a hotel selling to business clients which you can tell at dinner it was all business men and women. Dinner - I was turned down at arriving 18:58 (when the dinner area opens at 7) I came back two minutes later to then be allowed to sit down. The times are not shown anywhere visible however In a three start hotel if you want to eat you can eat at any time we are not in the 1900 century. Staff I felt were rude and just stared as if I was not a customer. Due to this hotel being rural it is not easy to go else where otherwise I would have. Also FYI a lot of customers from Europe eat early not late! so 7 pm is more like 9 to them. Furthermore the food was trying to be something it wasn't, very small portions and very very little choice and not nice. By little I mean three options all posh and Over complicated. I was still starving after dinner. All soft drinks I had were flat and not as specified. I had a horrible prawn cocktail with tiny defrosted still wet frozen prawns. FYI Lidl do a big pack of King prawns for a couple of pounds.. My room - You can't open or use the curton. First hotel ever in multiple countries where I couldn't open a curtain. Rooms felt dated especially the bathrooms. I had cobwebs across my bathroom door and there were loads in the stairs hallway window along with hoovers with dust on under the stairs. The show cushions on my bed stank and we're dirty. Breakfast - was amazing! It was the only good thing. You had to ask for filter coffee which is weird and annoying as it should just be on tap like every other hotel however it was delicious. Breakfast beats all other UK hotels for me so far on business trips. Just a I arrived first and got served last the whole service was a shambles. Shame dinner was so awful and bad service. I felt the hotel was trying to be something it wasn't. Over complicated and uncomfortable. It's not a five star but was acting like one, Baring in mind Premier Inn, holiday Inn express are much cheaper, and newer and overall much better. It is not a three start hotel by any means

Rooms are clean, swimming pool area and facilities are good. Restaurant is clean, food is decent. Breakfast is slightly on the expensive side, but it is a buffet, but again there's only so much you can take of bake beans, hash browns, toasts, bacon, and sausages. Coffee machine makes okay coffee not great but when finished, no one seems to top them up. 2 machines were broken out of 4, that's not a good percentage. Heating in bedrooms stops too early. My kids were up in the middle of the night because was too cold. They jump on my bed and I ended up not having good night sleep. All in all is ok, but little detail like this can still be improved without much costs. Edited: Service level has dropped drastically since and the state of rooms looked like hasn't been maintained. Star dropped from 4 to 1. Room webstayed smelled damp and the state of the bathroom was horrible. Mould everyone on the ceiling and around th3 bathtub. Flush for the toilet was so hard to press so both of my kids couldn't do it. Hair dryer was broken, given to receptionist and was told that someone will come and replace. THIS NEVER HAPPENED!! Staff at restaurant are not helpful. Food was bland. And what they claimed to be their Chef CAN'T even do SOFT boiled egg. My daughter asked for the 1st one, and it came HARD BOILED. I then had to ask for another. I went back to the kitchen after 3 minutes to ask if the egg is done, he came back and told me it's another 5 minutes. Such a poor performance, as such a simple basic skill can't even be achieved. Won't be coming back again, but I guess the staff don't care as long as they a job......for now but not for long one would think.

I was able to get both experience as a guest with a very large group and one with a smaller group back to back in the same month. The difference in quality was around the food. The small work group was treated extremely well with snacks and personal lunch of a high quality. Whereby the large group experience were served school dinners almost which really did not need to be like that. The vegetarian option during the session with the large group was poor however the small group, we were treated to well crafted meals from a menu. No menu was presented with the large group even when the organiser asked several times before, during and at the time of eating. Food during that time was appalling. The fish was cold and the apple pie had barely defrosted before sharing. The contrast between both visits are stark and needs to be addressed. Sauna is small but does the job for a small group. I liked the swimming pool as I was able to access it at 6.30 am and swim in peace. Not very large but good enough to enjoy. Showers by the pool were inadequate as the head needed cleaning. Staff are great including Stella at the front desk. If she was annoyed with the large group, she never showed it and was professional all the time with a smile. I understand that working with a large group can be different and difficult but the quality of service really should remain the same regardless.
